Oh, tell me about it! I just got dogpiled by a pack of randos over there, because I followed somebody that they personally disapproved of, a so-called "transphobe."

I wouldn't dream of suggesting that anybody go over to Bluesky. Ever. That site is self-destructing, already.

What's the great virtue of being on social media much, at all?

@Howdyhorde My solution to the problem that is Elon might include creating a Minds account and providing people with a link to my Gab account, but mainly it's going to consist of turning off the computer, going outside and enjoying the Summer.

@Howdyhorde And then the other three seasons, until it's Summer, again. What's the payoff for putting up with the Internet's BS? It drags us away from real life, and what does it give back?

@Howdyhorde There are a few people you meet on it who maybe you don't want to lose contact with, so having some presence is good, but think about all of the experiences you're not having, while you're stuck inside dealing with online drama and bad service.

Why do we do that to ourselves?

Remember when @elonmusk promised us that edit key? Case in point. Elon has always been like this. The industry probably always will be like this. So let's just reduce the time we spend online, and get outside.

@Howdyhorde @elonmusk I have books to read (and to write), friends and family to hang out with, alumni and literary events to go to, forests to walk through ... no shortage of alternatives to being messed with by trolls, loons and their enablers.

I'm guessing that you can say the same.

@Howdyhorde @elonmusk The Internet doesn't give us anything better than what we were finding on our own. We just got so tied up with trying to figure out how to not be silenced online, that we forgot to ask ourselves why we cared.
