@Howdyhorde "I did not like the layout at all & all that was there was a shitlibs echo chamber!"
Oh, tell me about it! I just got dogpiled by a pack of randos over there, because I followed somebody that they personally disapproved of, a so-called "transphobe."
@Howdyhorde Meaning somebody who knew that a boy couldn't magically turn into a girl, just by putting on a dress. It was a BIZARRE conversation, so wrong on so many levels.
I wouldn't dream of suggesting that anybody go over to Bluesky. Ever. That site is self-destructing, already.
@Howdyhorde No, what I'm saying is "let's think outside of the box."
What's the great virtue of being on social media much, at all?
@Howdyhorde My solution to the problem that is Elon might include creating a Minds account and providing people with a link to my Gab account, but mainly it's going to consist of turning off the computer, going outside and enjoying the Summer.
@Howdyhorde And then the other three seasons, until it's Summer, again. What's the payoff for putting up with the Internet's BS? It drags us away from real life, and what does it give back?
@Howdyhorde There are a few people you meet on it who maybe you don't want to lose contact with, so having some presence is good, but think about all of the experiences you're not having, while you're stuck inside dealing with online drama and bad service.
Why do we do that to ourselves?
@Howdyhorde Real life is WAY more interesting that anything happening here.
@Howdyhorde Ugh ... more interesting THAN anything happening here.
Remember when @elonmusk promised us that edit key? Case in point. Elon has always been like this. The industry probably always will be like this. So let's just reduce the time we spend online, and get outside.
@Howdyhorde @elonmusk I have books to read (and to write), friends and family to hang out with, alumni and literary events to go to, forests to walk through ... no shortage of alternatives to being messed with by trolls, loons and their enablers.
I'm guessing that you can say the same.
@Howdyhorde @elonmusk The Internet doesn't give us anything better than what we were finding on our own. We just got so tied up with trying to figure out how to not be silenced online, that we forgot to ask ourselves why we cared.
@Howdyhorde @elonmusk These places are only as important as we choose to make them. When we fight to the end to hold onto them, we're giving our power to people who've shown that they'll misuse it.
Like Elon.
@Howdyhorde @elonmusk So let's recognize that we've been played, shrug and move on.

@gal_montag @jimsallas @simabaktas @lindayaX @elonmusk ^ Oh, look! Another bad faith reply! What a surprise! Let's take a look at what I actually wrote (which continues here)
as opposed to what Gal Montag wants to pretend that I said.
@gal_montag @jimsallas @simabaktas @lindayaX @elonmusk There's no call for censorship there, and Montag knows it, if Gal Montag is a real human being and not just a bot. I merely make the case that neo-Naziism is destined to turn on (and destroy) itself.
@gal_montag @jimsallas @simabaktas @lindayaX @elonmusk This is an ongoing problem that the character limit creates: a bad actor in a discussion can break the flow of a nuanced argument in a tweetstorm by replying to one of the initial tweets in a storm instead of replying to the last one.
@JeepIsUnlimited Words mean things, edgydude. We must agree to this point, because otherwise, why would be using them. Through the mere act of taking part in a discussion, one has conceded that point.
@jimsallas @simabaktas @lindayaX @elonmusk "Itβs hilarious to watch BlueSky consume itself in a woke orgy of political correctness."
That it is. But is neo-Naziism really any more reasonable, or in the end any less self-destructive, than wokeness?
@jimsallas @simabaktas @lindayaX @elonmusk Let's say that the X'itter Nazis win, really win, and everybody who isn't White, Christian and Straight is now absent from the US. What happens next?
@jimsallas @simabaktas @lindayaX @elonmusk No matter how little diversity remains, there will always be those who are a little more "foreign" than the others, somebody for them to turn on, as their xenophobia gets reinforced by being indulged.
@MouseOnShrooms @SomeBitchIIKnow No, you got blocked by me after you pushed the pro-H1B talking points, while pretending to oppose their position. I'm familiar with that game.
You're being manipulative and I'm calling you on it.
@MouseOnShrooms @SomeBitchIIKnow Quoting you back to yourself, Mouse, you wrote this:
"Also, I didn't mean to word it like 'highly educated'. I just meant to say competitive in the market in fields like engineering and technology."
@MouseOnShrooms @SomeBitchIIKnow You've repeated the talking point that Elon is trying to make America more competitive in Engineering and Technology. You KNOW how the silent majority in the audience is going to react to that.
@MouseOnShrooms @SomeBitchIIKnow Uh, huh. You said it in a supportive tone, and I think you know that. You also cooperatively used the H1B's lobby's counterfactual talking point
"IMO, he wants to import lots of highly educated people to increase the supply and bring down the demand. It makes the labor cheaper."
@MouseOnShrooms @SomeBitchIIKnow H1Bs aren't highly educated. They're products of degree mills, low grade educational institutions that give out meaningless degrees, easily earned.
@MouseOnShrooms @SomeBitchIIKnow Their presence in the US DOES NOT make the US more competitive in "fields like engineering and technology," because their work is garbage.
