Your belly fat isn't the jiggly fat that you can pinch under your skin.

This is visceral fat.

More dangerous. More problematic.
🧵 Image
What is it?

There are 2 types of fat:

- Subcutaneous fat: stored under skin at surface level.

- Visceral fat: more dangerous which wraps around your vital organs.
How does it happen?

It slowly accumulates when there's prolonged energy surplus - meaning you are constantly consuming more calories than your body is burning.

Think you know protein?

Most people get it wrong.

Protein is a fundamental requirement of everyone. But how much do you need?

Bookmark this 🔖 (a long one) Image
Starting with the basics:

Imagine your muscles to be a huge wall made of small bricks.

These small bricks are amino acids which make up the muscle tissue.
There are 20 different kinds Amino acids.

Some are essential and some are non essential.

Essential ones are that we absolutely need to get from our diet as our body can not make it.

Non essential ones can be produced by our body. (Not necessarily to be included in diet.)

Imagine someone is aiming for 2000 Cals per day

10% of 2000 = 200 cals

Now we need to convert these calories from fat into grams.

Per gram of fat= 9 Cals

200/9 = 22g of saturated fats

This means someone having 2000 Cals of diet can consume a max of 22g of sat fat in a day.

People consider coke zero harmful but are okay drinking normal coke with 35g sugar(per can).

Because coke zero contains Aspartame.

-Aspartame breaks down to:

- Methanol - puts you in a coma

- Phenylalanine - which causes brain damage

- Aspartic acid - which causes cancer
But

-One tomato has 6 times the methanol as Coke Zero.

-100 grams of beef has 32 times the phenylalanine as Coke Zero.

-One egg has 34 times the aspartic acid as Coke Zero.
For aspartame, the safe limit provided by the FDA is: 50mg/kg body weight/day.

Cholesterol is an indispensable architect, a master builder.

Let’s understand the paradox that exists around cholesterol. Image
Cholesterol is not as some villainous substance, but as an absolutely essential building block for life.

It’s a waxy, fat-like substance that’s found in every single cell in your body.
But why is it blamed to everything then?

Because the problem is in the transport not the molecule.
