A reason was not given for Runyan's resignation just days into Ruch's trial, but I can't help but wonder if the ridiculous infographic conveniently redefining the understanding of a Bishop recently released by the Province at had anything to do with it.
The document magically redefines the role of the overseer as not having to oversee his diocese, which has very convenient implications for Ruch's defense.
Along with the election of longtime Ruch friend & UMD Bishop's Council member Barbara Gauthier to @The_ACNA Executive Committee, the document signals that the people in power in the Province are looking for ways to keep Ruch in the fold.
@The_ACNA Will this resignation do anything to awaken the people of @The_ACNA out of their complacency & widespread refusal to inform themselves or act to demand transparency to hold their leaders accountable?
I am skeptical given the lack of accountability after the PRT resignations.
@The_ACNA Recall that in Jan. 2021, the only 3 experts on the Provincial Response Team (PRT), which was tasked to select an investigator for the UMD allegations & care for victims, resigned.
@The_ACNA Note also that the timeline of Runyan's resignation in the Anglican Ink account is different from the timeline presented by the Archbishop in his email.
Did the email go out tonight because Anglican Ink had called for comment & @The_ACNA Province needed to get ahead of it?
Update Email from Archbishop Wood re: resignation of C. Alan Runyan, Esq. as prosecutor for Ruch trial. Includes link to other documents, including Runyan's resignation letter:
Will the Renegade Court member be allowed to continue on the court?
Will he or she be publicly identified?
Will their actions be independently investigated to determine where they accessed their information or what prompted their actions?
How will the "irreparable taint" that a practicing attorney with nearly five decades of experience determines was introduced be remedied by bringing on a new prosecutor?
Very little that @The_ACNA does to block abuse accountability surprises me, but the election of Barbara Gauthier of the Diocese of the Upper Midwest to the Executive Committee after her conduct on Stewart Ruch’s Bishop’s Council is shocking.
Barbara Gauthier, her husband, and fellow members of the UMD Bishop's Council demonized survivors & advocates & refused to hold Stewart Ruch accountable.
@NathanBroo33288 @bethkiraly_ @ahailstone @morningstarmin Nathan, please exercise caution about this. ChatGPT does not assess source credibility reliably.
The section on Occult Freemasonry ties alone is based on the Taxil Hoax.
A mixture of true things mixed with insane lies is how these false prophets sucked people into NAR.
@NathanBroo33288 @bethkiraly_ @ahailstone @morningstarmin Taxil Hoax myths have been vomited up repeatedly since the 1890's by some of the same organizations listed in this "analysis." Evangelicals, fundamentalists, and charismatics keep returning to that vomit.
@NathanBroo33288 @bethkiraly_ @ahailstone @morningstarmin These kind of rabbit holes fuel spiritual bypassing. Instead of seeking credible sources that can help us reflect on how we got sucked into these things & can help us face the current dangers & repair the damage, they distract us with the illusion that We See The Hidden Knowledge
I just finished reading the @IHOPKC Firefly investigation report.
In any investigation, it's important to listen to participant feedback before we gauge its strengths & weaknesses.
Do they feel like their stories were faithfully represented?
I'm planning on sharing more thoughts during the next few days as I have time to digest & listen to the people who risked so much to share their stories & want to share their feedback.
However, I do have a couple of initial impressions now.
The report starts off strong. I was worried that we wouldn't get reader education, Holler helps the reader understand grooming dynamics. These are new concepts for many charismatics, so this education is essential.
According to the Isler/Dare investigation report (beginning on pg 71), in 2007, a survivor close to TFCA rector John Yates disclosed to him that Jeff Taylor had sexually abused him when he was a member of the youth group. tfcanglican.org/special-invest…x.com/MBurtwrites/st…
After hearing the allegations, Yates met with his ExCom committee & called Taylor, then a youth minister at Christ Church Anglican in Atlanta, & arranged for him to fly up to TFCA.
Yates & the Senior Associate Rector then confronted Taylor, who denied the allegations.
The @washingtonpost article by @ianshapira describes this meeting in greater detail:
I would like to talk about one of the many times @DrMichaelLBrown could have rethought his entire life when an abuser that he coddled & protected from the Angry Mob of Gossips was exposed.
Why wasn't the conscience of this Man of God horrified?
As someone who had to develop research skills in order to achieve some level of subject matter expertise to get his PhD in a respectable program, why didn't he use his research skills to seek out experts a long time ago? Why didn't he take expertise seriously?
In late May of 2015, he posted this essay on his projected redemptive art for Josh Duggar, who had just been exposed for sexually abusing four of his sisters & another minor girl while he was an adolescent.
