1/5 James O’Brien read out an anti-Jewish racist email on his show, as if it was part of a legitimate debate. LBC then clipped this racist segment and posted it on X with captions.
2/5 The author claimed his wife had been taught at “Shabbat School” that Jewish lives are more valuable than non-Jewish lives.
There is no such thing as “Shabbat School” in the Jewish community and no such teaching in Judaism, but this is an often repeated myth.
3/5 He also claimed she had been taught to demonise Arabs, using the very language that was employed by the Nazi regime to describe Jews.
Jewish children certainly aren’t taught that Arabs are “cockroaches who must be crushed”.
4/5 Jewish religious education doesn’t include the denigration of other cultures or religions because it is education about Judaism and our practices.
Mr O’Brien used this random email to further his view that “dehumanisation and propaganda”was not one sided
5/5 and suggested that it lent some “objectivity” to the discussion.
Spreading hate is not legitimate debate and unsubstantiated myths and canards have no place on our airwaves.
