Ambassador MIKE HUCKABEE complained that there were obstacles being set up by Israel to issuing visas to for American Christian Groups for visits. He also said he would consider warning Christian Organizations not to come to Israel unless that stopped.

I find this incomprehensible.

Because there are no limits on tourist visas for American tourists.

Any American can travel to Israel and stay for up to 90 days on a tourist visa.

The only exceptions are for those on a list that have been shown to be hostile to the State of Israel or antisemitic and declared persona non grata.

But, understand that Israel has an interest in excluding people that are there, not for tourism and education, and even business opportunities, from those whose interests are proselytization of Jews and Moslems and Druze or local Christians of various denominations.

Israel is a nation of religious communities, and tolerance of various communities' beliefs and customs is necessary for social peace. Outsides cannot be allowed to disturb that.

So, those that enter Israel for purposes that are opposed to the social compact of the states can be denied the right to visit.

Frankly, I do not believe Christians do missionary work to hurt anyone. I believe they do it out of caring and even love.

But, sorry, that is love that is misplaced and even insulting to those they target."
