Reservation Day

July 26, 1902 is a historic day in Indian history. On this day, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, the great-grandson of Shivaji Maharaj, issued revolutionary orders in the princely state of Kolhapur.
He provided 50% reservations in government services to the backward classes with the idea that representation in governance should be proportional to population.

Backward classes referred to all castes excluding Brahmins, Prabhus, Shenvis, Parsis, and other developed castes —
this included not only the Untouchables but also backward members across all religions.
Inspired by this act, the Father of Modern India, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, later constitutionally guaranteed reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward classes
through the Indian Constitution.

Reservations – The Debate

Articles 14, 15, and 16 of the Indian Constitution, under Fundamental Rights, lay the legal foundation for reservations.

Article 14 ensures equality before the law.
Article 15 prohibits discrimination based on religion, caste, race, sex, or place of birth.

Article 16 provides for equal opportunity in public employment and justifies reservations.
Reservation Day – July 26

Let us remember July 26 as a historic day in India’s social justice journey — the day reservations were first introduced by Shahu Maharaj, and let us recommit to the unfinished revolution of equality and representation.

The Brahmins imagined Garuda (the bird carrying Vishnu) and Pushpaka vimana,

When Buddhism was read in the 18th century, the idols of Brahma and Sakra (Indra) were destroyed? Image
Title: Brahma and Indra on either side of Buddha, preaching on a strange winged vehicle with Buddha.

Remember Brahma and Indra are the Dhammapalas of Buddhism.
Later on, they were Brahminised by the Brahmins and they created imaginary characters with these names and wrote fake stories and presented them as scriptures to confuse people.

REMEMBERING UDA DEVI PASI ON HER BIRTH ANNIVERSARY (30TH JUNE 1830 – 16TH NOVEMBER 1857)

The brave Dalit woman liberation warrior Uda Devi Pasi (1830-1857). Image
who participated valiantly in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the British East India Company, is honoured by BAPSA. Uda Devi was a proud member of Wajid Ali Shah's (the final Nawab of Awadh) women's brigade.
Her courageous involvement in the fight against colonialism is evidence of the vital but historically underappreciated contribution Dalit women made to the Indian liberation movement.
