How one insect is responsible for some of the most powerful superfoods on earth
(Thread)
Ancient Egyptians practiced beekeeping for thousands of years
They attached great significance to the honey bee, and it was associated with royalty
They made their own hives out of clay & mud, and moved them up & down the Nile on rafts, allowing bees to pollinate flowers
Many other ancient cultures cherished bee products as well, including the ancient Greeks, Romans and Chinese.
So, what is it that’s so special about these products? Let’s get into it
Honey bees produce 5 different superfoods which all have unique properties:
Raw honey
Bee pollen
Royal jelly
Propolis
Manuka honey
Raw Honey
This is the most common bee product and for good reason; it’s rich in antioxidants, living enzymes, and amino acids and more.
Raw honey has a ton of therapeutic properties, including:
-Nootropic, memory-enhancing effects
-Can counter oxidative stress via polyphenols
-Can counter neuroinflammation
-Helps sleep via tryptophan which is eventually made into melatonin
-Antifungal, antibacterial
-Allergy remedy
-Pre-workout
The list goes on!
Raw honey is an a great way to get your sweets in without the negative effects of processed sugars.
Be careful though, raw honey is extremely sensitive to heat.
A lot of the enzymes will be killed above temperatures normally found in the hive (around 95 degrees)
Putting it in tea & coffee tastes great, but you are likely losing out on most of the benefits of truly raw honey
Propolis
Known as “bee glue” propolis is a mixture of beeswax and tree resins used to seal the hive and bee larvae.
Propolis is a powerful antibiotic and antiviral, and has been traditionally used to combat a cold or flu.
It has even been shown to reduce an enzyme responsible for increasing blood pressure (tyrosine hydroxylase).
When buying propolis, it should be extracted with alcohol which makes it more bioavailable.
Bee Pollen
Honeybees collect granules of pollen which form into pellets.
This is an extremely powerful allergy remedy when buying locally sourced bee pollen.
It’s also:
-Loaded with antioxidants including flavonoids, carotenoids, quercetin and glutathione
-Contains over 250 active substances
-Anti-inflammatory due to the phospholipids and unsaturated fatty acids
-18 vitamins and 22 minerals
Royal Jelly
Royal jelly is stored in a special honeycomb called the “queen cell”, which surrounds the larvae of the queen bees.
It is no coincidence that these queen bees have greater longevity than other bees.
It contains unique proteins, which are known as “major royal jelly proteins” and unique fatty acids as well.
It also contains several B vitamins and trace minerals.
Like other bee products, it also has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Manuka honey
Manuka honey is a special honey produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the Manuka bush, which is known for its bioactive properties.
It has powerful benefits used both topically and orally.
Using a Manuka honey face mask is amazing for acne and other skin conditions because of it’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as wound healing.
Those properties also make it beneficial when taken orally, shown to treat GI issues and stimulate tissue growth.
It should have an MGO of at least 250, & UMF 16.
Besides producing these amazing superfoods, bees are essential for the health of people and the planet, as their role as pollinators make them vital for food supplies.
Our ancient ancestors attaching great significance to the honey bee was no accident; they knew how powerful these substances were and how important they are for the planet.

Marinading meat is the easiest way to take the flavor to a whole new level
Here are 10 of my favorite marinades with clean ingredients:
Honey mustard chicken
Ingredients:
1/3 cup organic stone ground mustard 1/4 cup raw honey
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh garlic)
Dash of cayenne (optional)
Chipotle copycat
Ingredients:
1/2 medium diced red onion
4 garlic cloves
2 tbsp olive oil 3-4 tbsp chipotles in adobo (or just the adobo sauce)
1 tbsp chili powder 1.5 tsp cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp salt 1/4 cup water
1. Swap any nonstick or teflon pans with ceramic, stainless steel or cast iron.
Nonstick pans get their slippery texture from PFAs and PFCs which are toxic. When heated, chemicals are released into the air and food, including PFOA which is linked to thyroid disease, cancer, & more.
Ceramic is best for low to medium heat, and stainless steel/cast iron are best for higher heats.
2. Use unbleached parchment paper instead of aluminum foil.
Aluminum can leech into your food when heated (especially acidic food). It is a neurotoxin and has no known use in the human body.
Making a delicious, gelatinous bone broth is one of the healthiest things you can possibly make! Besides that, the convenience is unmatched.
Yes, it takes some time to make the broth. But once it’s done, you can whip up a delicious, healthy meal in minutes. You can cook some shrimp (2-3 minutes), slice some raw steak very thin, cook some rice noodles and boom you have a nourishing meal.
ACID REFLUX is one of the most common symptoms of gut dysfunction
Instead of identifying the root cause, doctors will just prescribe something to mask symptoms making issues worse in the long run
Here is everything you need to know about reflux, its causes & how to fix it:
First of all, what is acid reflux?
Acid reflux is when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, or a feeling of a lump in the throat.
Most doctors will just give you a prescription that will suppress stomach acid further, just making the problem worse in the long run.
In this thread I'll go over:
-Root causes
-What to test for
-Why medications make the issues worse
-What you can do about it
