Scoop!

Danielle Smith says that she wants to bring a Provincial Police force because the RCMP can't keep boots on the ground.

But what about the Alberta Sherrifs?

We filed a FOIP and you can come along for the ride!

Going back to 2024, the RCMP called out Smith for presenting inaccurate vacancy numbers.

Here's that story via CTV.

/2

ctvnews.ca/edmonton/artic…
So 124 unfilled positions & 182 officers on leave for a total vacanacy rate of 17.3%.

But what happens if we take a closer look?

“Hard Vacancies” (fully unfilled positions) sit at 6.99%.

“Soft Vacancies” (vacancies created by leaves of) are at 10.27%.

/3
When Danielle Smith launched her border patrol we couldn’t help but notice that the photo ops of the new border patrol included members from Corrections and Fish and Wildlife.

Which got us to wondering…

What are the Sherrif’s vacancies rates like?

/4 Image
So we filed a FOIP!

According to the government of Alberta, the total vacancy rate for the Sheriffs is 14%.

But wait...

/5 Image
That’s only 3.3% lower than the RCMP.

What about their "hard and soft” vacancies?

For Sherrifs, the hard vacancy is 8%.

That’s actually higher than the RCMP at 6.99%

Yup, according to government numbers, they have more completely unfilled positions than the RCMP.

/6
Given the fact that Smith and Ellis regularly complain about not enough officers being available on the ground, what happens when we take a look at the actual vacancy rate for Sherrifs able to respond to calls?

And that department is going to be the Sherrifs Highway Patrol.

/6
What’s their current vacancy rate?

Their soft vacancy rate is 6.7%.

Their hard vacancy rate?

22.5%.

So when it comes to boots on the ground, the Alberta Sherrifs have a vacancy rate of 1 in 5.

/7 Image
The numbers for the Sherrifs are all as of July 1st BTW, so there is a slight gap in time between the RCMP's numbers and the Sherrifs, but a 1 in 5 vacancy rate isn't the win that Smith is presenting it as.

/8
But you have to wonder why it is then that Smith and CO are so aggressively pursuing their own police force.

Perhaps it’s worth remembering at this point that Smith is on the record saying that she wants a police force that she can set the enforcement priorities on.

/9
You know, kinda like trying to reach into the prosecution of a border seditionist or having a justice minister try to influence the elections commissioner in determining what sort of referendum questions are unconstitutional.

Ok then.

Let's take a look at the great "Ali" UCP scandal of 2025!

Yesterday a judge found 6 people in contempt for irregular donations to the UCP.

This touched off a bit of a firestorm.

Let's unpack it!

With a twist!

The issue is that there are 6 individuals who refused to cooperate into an elections Alberta investigation...

From Canlii, here's the Cole's notes.

/2 Image
We took a look at the Elections Alberta financial disclosure website.

All six individuals are from Edmonton and they all made the maximum donation ($4300) in Q2 of 2023.

Now where all of the confusion comes in has to do with just one of the names, Ali Assa Haymour.

It is a sad state in Alberta politics.

Just over a week ago, we asked our audience to ignore an account that was set up clearly to troll us and harass a journalist and private citizen.

/1

#abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
Since that time there have been multiple coincidences that suggest some connection between an individual known to “fix” in politics, that account and another individual.

/2
We have since been provided a court ruling that clearly spells out that one of these individuals has a history of criminal harassment and severe untreated mental health issues (as of May 2025).

So remember the lawsuit launched by Danielle Smith's former chief of staff Marshall Smith?

Where's he's suing both former AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopolous and the Globe and Mail?

The statements of defense have been filed!

Let's take a look!

Thread!

#abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli Image
It's worth remembering that the defamation claims against Mentzelopoulos seem to hinge entirely on what was included in her statement of claim against the government in her wrongful dismissal case...

Which a few legal beagles have already said can't be ruled as defamatory.

/2 Image
In his statement of claim, Marshall Smith claims that he indeed did speak to the CEO about Nate Pike and alleges that he had a lawsuit he was looking to launch against Pike.

Also apparently for defamation.

Legit have no idea what he's talking about there...

The Jasper report has 9 key themes and 23 recommendations.

But Danielle Smith has taken issue with one of those themes, claiming the town of Jasper owes her an apology.

But again, the Streisand effect strikes and Dani has trouble truthing!

Let’s take a look!

/1 Image
First, let’s establish some timelines!

Fortunately, the report does that very early on.

The report clearly demonstrates that the first fires inside the town of Jasper were reported on July 24th at roughly 6 PM.

/3 Image
Ok!

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at what Smith is taking issue with!

It’s predominantly these two sections.

The report states that “the Province of Alberta, though not jurisdictionally responsible to lead the incident, regularly requested information and sought to exercise decision-making authority.”

The Alberta Prosperity Project (who Danielle Smith called her "Plan B") has released their "fully costed" (it's not) fiscal plan for a nation of Alberta.

There's a lot to unpack in this numerical train wreck, but today let's focus on just 1 piece...

Their immigration policy

/1 Image
Because in the country of Alberta, individual value would be determined by points.

Want to move to Alberta?

You have to meet the prescribed number of points.

/2 Image
But a closer look really highlights the darker elements at play...

Despite Alberta having a significant francophone population, points are only awarded for English.

Too old? Too young?

Too bad.

Danielle Smith claimed on June 24th, 2025 that she hadn’t seen Sam Mraiche of MHCare in “over a year”.

Strap in for a special Stampede Sneak a peak of “Danielle Smith can’t truth on demand!”

Last year, Last Door Recovery who have played an integral role in bringing Marshall Smith’s vision for “The Alberta Model” held a Sober Stampede!

Trooper was there!

/2 Image
Who else was there?

Glad you asked!

Jason Nixon! Dan Williams! Danielle Smith! Last Door Director of Community Development Giuseppe Ganci!
