1/ The current catastrophic water shortage in the Donbas, caused by war and Russian corruption and mismanagement, has worsened even further. Russian warbloggers are complaining that the Russian-installed authorities are inflicting a "water genocide" on the population. ⬇️ Image
2/ Desperate people are having to queue overnight to fill buckets and bottles from water tankers, as seen here in Makiivka, or rely on volunteer aid deliveries, to obtain water for drinking or washing. 'SHAKESPEARE' writes:
3/ "This is a line for water in Makiivka. A normal one. Everyday. There are hundreds of them in Donbass. Or thousands – who's counting. Water is supplied once every three days for several hours. But even so, it doesn't reach everyone.
4/ In some places, it doesn't reach the upper floors. In some places, it doesn't reach entire blocks. In some places, it doesn't reach entire villages. Water carriers come to these people. Some live like this for years. Sometimes it's easier. But now it's the opposite."
5/ 'Volunteer Alla Sidorova' writes:

"Every second request to me in private messages concerns water. People have no water, entire villages and towns are without water. I told you about Yehorivka." Image
6/ "I wrote to the [Denis] Pushilin administration asking that drinking water be brought to people at least once a week. This is not just comfort, it is about life.
7/ "There is no water in other places either, not only in big cities (where you can at least buy 5 litres of drinking water), there is no water for sale or in the taps in many villages.

There is a village of Komunarivka near Dokuchaievsk, we bring food packages to people there.
8/ "And now there is a catastrophe with water there. There is no water in the taps, no wells, no stores. People have nowhere to get water. In the village there is a tiny kindergarten for 14 children. The kindergarten bought water to cook food for the children.
9/ "And now the situation is that no one has brought water to the village for 2 weeks. Not only is water given to people for free, there is no paid water. And the parents were told to bring water to the kindergarten when they bring their children.
10/ "The parents agree, but there is no water anywhere, not in the wells, and there is none in the stores either! The nearest store with water is in Dokuchaievsk, 14 km from the village.

What should people do? What should they do?"
11/ Svetlana Pikta publishes a document which she says that local businesses have been sent by the Voda Donbassa water company, ordering them to disconnect from the water supply within a week. She says:

"The water genocide of Donbass is reaching new proportions." Image
12/ "A number of industrial enterprises that maintained their production during the 11 years of war, but did not survive the inaction of officials and the silence about the problem with the water supply, were ordered to urgently disconnect the water supply.
13/ "A photo of a document is being distributed on the Internet, according to which a number of enterprises in the republic may be disconnected from the water supply.
14/ The state enterprise "Voda Donbassa" sent its city branches a telephone message signed by the deputy general director Sergei Mokry, which states the need to notify enterprises about the cessation of water supply before the start of the heating season,…
15/ …on Pushilin's instructions."

Although the state-owned water company has been ordered to reduce its water prices – which people are still paying in full despite the lack of water – there simply doesn't appear to be enough to be delivered, as 'Voenkor Kotenok' complains:
16/ "Chronicle of the water disaster in the DPR.

The price of water in Donetsk was reduced to 3.5 rubles per litre "by a strong-willed decision from above".

But! The producers simply do not transport it. The barrels are empty! Sabotage!..."
17/ 'Mezinov Yuri and co.' points out that the situation is much worse in frontline areas:

"Well, we won't talk about the situation with water in Donbas. They even wrote about it "on the fence".
18/ "This is in the main cities. Imagine what is happening in the settlements with intensive shelling, difficult logistics and no electricity at temperatures above 40° in the shade..." /end

1/ Even as Russian troops struggle for lack of vehicles, forcing them to rely on donations and home-made contraptions, Russia's vehicle manufacturers have cut back production due to economic difficulties. Russian warbloggers can't understand why they're not helping the army. ⬇️ Image
2/ AvtoVAZ, the makers of the iconic Lada and its military variants, has announced that it will cut salaries by at least 20% and will switch employees to a four-day week starting in September. Russia's slumping economy has led to a sharp decline in demand and sales. Image
3/ In February 2025 alone, AvtoVAZ had about 100,000 unsold cars, with the norm being 60,000, according to company president Maxim Sokolov. Truck manufacturers GAZ and KAMAZ are likewise switching to a four-day week.

1/ Russian units are sustaining losses of 70-95% – with only the command staff being left alive in the latter case – before being declared combat ineffective, according to a Russian source. This is a far higher level of accepted casualties than in World War II. ⬇️
2/ The author of the 'Vault No. 8' Telegram channel discusses the level of losses at which a unit is considered to have lost combat readiness and requires withdrawal for replenishment, according to US Army doctrine (though misattributed here to Clausewitz):
3/ "If I remember correctly, then when 30% of personnel losses are reached, the same assault company must be withdrawn for replenishment in order to preserve the experienced core of the unit ...

1/ A Russian artilleryman has written a highly critical commentary on the way that the Russian army manages small units, which he says discourages independent thought and empowers "scoundrels". ⬇️ Image
2/ The 'Ghost of Novorossiya' Telegram channel posts the thoughts of an artilleryman with the callsign 'Lame', about the controls of small units at the platoon-company/battery level:
3/ "1. The old army maxim does not work: "Until you have risen to the rank of colonel, you do not need to think. Just follow orders." In general, it is a bad habit not to think, and in a modern war it is fraught with death.
