Shaista Gohir is a key figure in the government's "Islamophobia definition" project.

And this is a significant development. To this day, she stands by some awful posts in the past, saying "bad actors were deliberately twisting their meaning”.

This is worrying. Why? 1/8 Image
Because we are talking about a number of posts where she claimed Israel controls America. This is a rotten antisemitic canard.

In fact, Israel had a "hold" over world leaders too, including Muslims. 2/8 Image
There are other historic posts of concern as well.

So, to our times. I know a number of politicians who were pretty wild in the past. They have plainly changed. Some have apologised. If people have moved on, good.

And Shaista Gohir, today? 3/8
It's denial and defiance. She even resorts to using the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

And then, she goes on the attack. This is characteristic.

Anti-Muslim hatred and antisemitism are very different beasts. In any case, one could argue, and I have, that the IHRA... 4/8 Image

...definition may have caused more problems than it has solved. That is not meant as any sign of disrespect to its supporters or an argument against its intrinsic merits.

It is just a weary take from the field. "Oh, now we have something else to argue about endlessly." 5/x8 Image

"Getting nowhere, as if we needed yet another conflict. Sigh."

The main point here, though, is that I don't think someone who brusquely dismisses serious concerns should have a role in deciding what we may say, for fear of sanction with an official seal of approval. 6/8
For that is just what might happen. You can be sure of it. With the right definition cudgel, Islamists will abuse people expressing legitimate views, no matter how much some may dislike them.

Media types in particular may be very fearful. 7/8
Despicable physical crimes against Muslims can be and are punished. Good. Go get them!

Words are where it gets very murky, very quickly.

The government may be fashioning a rod for its own back here, actually making things worse.

Please think most carefully. 8/8 Image

Zack Polanski assures us that he is "unapologetically anti-racist". He "only wants peace", of course.

Set that against the record. Here, he elicits cheers for backers of "Palestine Action", already proscribed, at an anti-Israel rally in London on 9 August.

See the day. 1/9
Meet the crowd of the man who is now the Green Party leader.

The obligatory Nazi slurs. The creeps love them. No one ever objects. No Nazi salutes were spotted this time, but they too are not all that uncommon on the hate marches.

The lowest of blows. That's the point. 2/9 Image

Always back terrorists. The IRA too, comrades. Yay, the bombers of Britain!

The red triangle means "I'm with Hamas". 3/9 Image

"Wahhabi." He means Saudi Arabia.

There has long been talk in UK extremist circles that Saudi Arabia is "Zionist". Its rulers may even be "secret Jews!". They and the clerics are definitely not proper Muslims, oh no.

It's ludicrous and offensive.

So, who is Hamza Egal? 1/5 Image
He is "Chair and Executive of the Global Majority Greens" and part of the "Green Party Anti-Racism Platform". He's been nominated for the Lords, you know.

This is another episode that shows we really are home to some of the planet's most deranged extremists. 2/5 Image
He will go far in today's Green Party.

There have been many social reforms in Saudi Arabia in recent years. If you've known the Magic Kingdom for a long time, you will be astounded.

It used to be the other way around. Not long ago, Saudi was deeply conservative. 3/5

"There is no place for hatred and racism in the United Kingdom."

Tee hee! Iqbal Mohamed MP heads up hate marches.

Here he is in London on his first as an MP.

What was it like? 1/11 Image
"Intifada, intifada! Globalise the intifada!"

They always chant for racist terrorists at the hate marches. They want to see the same hatred all over the world.

Those chants were followed by the ritual cries for Israel's annihilation. 2/11
There's never enough "intifada!". Terrorism is the "only solution", you know.

This is Whitehall, the seat of British state power. 3/11

The Labour MP Kim Johnson displaying spectacular ignorance in Parliament earlier today.

Her cause? Yemen's death cult Houthi terrorists. Their latest move? Abducting UN workers.

Well, some in Liverpool will be pleased, as the Houthis "stand against the UK". 1/4
HMS Diamond was on patrol in the Red Sea when that Liverpool protest was filmed. It was a brave mission. They came under fire and fought back. Sorry, creeps, no sailors were killed or injured by the enemy. Top work by the Royal Navy. 2/4 Image
The Houthi slogan:

"God is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse the Jews, Victory to Islam."

That's the slogan on the placards at this death rally in Sanaa.

They have brutalised, oppressed, and destroyed their own country. Stand *against* them if you ... 3/4

So this is where we are. Say what you will about Netanyahu. Israelis do!

But calling him a "dog who has tasted blood" in the chamber is really low. That's just what the Islamist MP Ayoub Khan did today. He was not rebuked.

What would he say if a Reform MP called Mahmoud... 1/3
...Abbas a "dog"?

He also called for "military intervention", a fever dream of extremists. The last thing either side needs is more war. And no one is offering, that's for sure. Arab governments don't think like British Islamists, I'm afraid, Ayoub.

Understand what is... 2/3
...happening here. The Islamist MPs and the Corbyn camp are coalescing. They have only one great passion in political life - fanatical Israel hatred. They'll achieve nothing in the Middle East.

In the UK, they'll only spread and fuel yet more anger and division. Just say no. 3/3 Image

As we know, Rachael Maskell MP is worked up about British flags in York.

OK, what about Palestinian flags at a racist hatred rally for terrorists, right outside Parliament?

She joined them. Image
Some scenes from the protest Maskell joined. A Holocaust memory slur. Abuse of the Star of David. Terror chants. Abuse for the police too.

All entirely predictable at a "Palestine Solidarity Campaign" hatred rally.

Some people are looking distinctly wobbly on their high horses. Image
Image

"Uphold the law", Maskell urges in the current flag row. If we don't, "societies can break down and we all ultimately lose".

So, what about the proscription in July of “Palestine Action", a horrid band of racist vandals?

Maskell "condemned" it. Image
