For thirty years, the West has preached democracy, law, and morality — while practicing double standards, double morals, two laws, two weights.

A small tread 🪡🧵 Image
In 1990, the U.S. and NATO promised Gorbachev that the Alliance would not expand one inch beyond Germany. Instead, NATO doubled: from 16 to 32 members, dragging in the historical enemies of Russia — Poland, the Baltics, Finland — and announcing that Ukraine and Georgia would follow.

Imagine if Russia had placed nuclear missiles in Mexico or Canada after promising Washington not to.
We invoke “international law” when it suits us, then violate it at will. NATO bombed Serbia in 1999 without UN approval, overthrowing Milosevic, Moscow’s ally. The U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003 on false pretenses, killing hundreds of thousands. France, Britain, and the U.S. destroyed Libya in 2011, killing Gaddafi and turning North Africa into a failed state. None of these were called wars — only “operations,” “interventions,” “coalitions of the willing.”
In Eastern Europe, we engineered “color revolutions” to expel governments that leaned neutral or pro-Russian: Shevardnadze in Georgia, Yanukovych in Ukraine. In 2014, after the Maidan coup backed by the West, the new regime in Kiev bombarded its own Russian-speaking citizens in Donbass for 8 years, killing 15,000. NATO states trained and armed the Ukrainian army since 2014 while pretending to be mediators.
We recognized the secession of Kosovo from Serbia — without a referendum, without constitutional basis — but we refuse to recognize Crimea, where the population voted overwhelmingly to rejoin Russia. Why? Because in the West, secessions are legitimate only when they serve our interests.
We imposed the Minsk Agreements, then let Kiev ignore them, breaking the ceasefire and blocking autonomy for Donbass. Merkel and Hollande later admitted they were never meant to be implemented, only to buy time to arm Ukraine against Russia. A fraud written in the blood of thousands.
And now we condemn Russia for doing exactly what we did: making war without declaring war, calling it a “special operation” — the same trick we used in Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya.
The difference? When we bomb Belgrade, Baghdad, or Tripoli, it’s “democracy.” When Moscow defends its borders against NATO expansion, it’s “aggression.” When we annex, it’s liberation. When Russia annexes, it’s annexation. When we invade, it’s freedom. When Russia invades, it’s tyranny.
Moscow watched silently while Yugoslavia was torn apart, while Iraq was burned to the ground on lies, while Libya was reduced to chaos. It watched the endless hypocrisy of those who call themselves peacemakers while leaving millions dead.

But when the same playbook was about to be repeated on Russia’s doorstep — Ukraine turned into a NATO forward base, missiles minutes from Moscow — Russia did what the West has always done for itself: it acted.
The West pretends to be shocked. But what shocks them is not the war. They started wars everywhere. What shocks them is that, for the first time, they face an adversary who refuses to bow, who refuses to play by their script.
Russia has said: your rules are not rules, they are weapons.
Your “international law” is not law, it is a shield for your crimes.
Your “freedom” is not freedom, it is hegemony.

And if the world is to survive, someone had to draw a line.

Russia drew it.
End of the thread.
Hoped you enjoyed it.

I wrote it in a hurry, but i had the impulse to write few words here about it.
