NO, Russia does NOT want a "neutral, non-aligned Ukraine" governed by a "puppet government." This position misses everything about Russia's goals, and plays into Russian propaganda about its UNPROVOKED war against Ukraine.

Ukraine WAS NON-ALIGNED when Russia invaded. There was no danger of Ukraine joining NATO. It wasn't a popular concept in Ukraine, and most importantly, there was NO chance that NATO was going to invite Ukraine as a member.

Russia's goal isn't a pliant Ukraine. That could have been achieved by means of political subversion. Russia's goal isn't to amass *some* Ukrainian territory and let the rest be a pliant, puppet regime. Russia's goal is Ukraine's total annihilation and destruction.

I'm really tired of bad takes which don't account for facts and reality. And quite frankly, at this stage, these bad takes mean ineptitude or corruption. So, you're either stupid or corrupt. Neither stupid nor corrupt deserve space or our attention.

In 2022, Ukrainian civilians barricaded the road to the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (Europe's largest NPP) to defend it against Russian forces. They faced Russian tanks totally unarmed. NATO nations are afraid to shoot down UNMANNED Russian drones & missiles in Ukraine.

Instances of Ukrainian civilians standing down Russian tanks - even columns of them -with nothing but their bodies abound. Yet NATO nations won't even enlist their PROFESSIONAL ARMIES to do even things which avoid direct confrontation with RU, like protecting Ukrainian skies.

When Russia attacks a NATO nation, how can its citizens have any faith that their army will have the fortitude to protect them when their governments think it's too scary to shoot down UNMANNED drones and missiles which kill Ukrainian civilians sleeping in their beds???

Russian aggression and genocide were largely ignored from 2014 until 2022 when the images of Russian missiles striking Kyiv, and of mutilated civilians scattered about the streets of Ukraine with their hands bound behind their backs finally shook people up. Temporarily... 🧵

Canada has announced $2 billion in new military support for Ukraine.

Canada will count this toward its NATO defence spending target.

Counting military aid to Ukraine as part of NATO defence spending is tacit acknowledgement that Ukraine's defence against Russia is a shared, collective responsibility for NATO. It is a tacit acknowledgment that Ukraine is defending NATO nations. That UA is doing NATO's work.

It's hard to imagine that Canada quietly made this decision without discussing it with any other NATO nation. This would have been a point of discussion and agreement. If so, this isn't merely Ottawa acknowledging Ukraine is fighting for us all, but other NATO members, too.

People who say Ukraine should be "grateful" to other nations for their support forget to be grateful to Ukraine for doing NATO's job.

Without Ukrainian resistance to fascist Russia, Russian tanks would be in a NATO nation by now.

The "I don't hate Russians" people will sing an entirely different tune when Russia invades THEIR country and starts killing THEIR parents, siblings, children, cousins, grandparents, friends, colleagues, artists, doctors, mechanics, musicians, dancers, writers, plumbers, etc.

Today, the "Coalition of the Willing" of France, Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom walking in the streets of Kyiv to much applause and excitement. But we need to ask, WHAT exactly is this coalition willing to do?

In a joint statement, France, Germany, Poland, the UK, and Ukraine said that the Coalition is committed to calling for a "full and unconditional ceasefire" that "lasts for at least 30 days" as a "foundation" for "peace".

Let's be honest and clear: ANY talk of "peace deals" is accepting defeat. It is defeat because Ukraine MUST make concessions. This means Russia wins because it is rewarded. The argument that by not achieving its full objectives Moscow has "lost" is intolerable nonsense.
