For too long, young people and families have been priced out of living anywhere near the CBD, forced to either move away or give up on the dream of home ownership altogether.
So today, I’m proud to announce that Sydney is finally getting its first brand-new heavy rail station in over a decade, right in the middle of Woollahra, and with it, the zoning to build up to 10,000 new homes.
Woollahra Station was a project half-built over half a century ago, but was never delivered, and it’s about time we finished the job.
And the infrastructure to support all these new homes is already there - schools, green space, transport - with the Eastern Suburbs train line currently running at less than half its capacity.
Building thousands of new homes at Woollahra and Edgecliff is part of our plan to rebalance the growth of our city.
This is more than just building a new train station - it’s about building a better Sydney for everyone.

When I became leader a year ago, I was told that my job was to oppose everything.
That we couldn't deliver positive change in politics - but together, we proved that wrong.
When our state was hit by the worst crisis we have seen in a generation.
We supported the government and proposed positive solutions to issues raised.
As that crisis subsided, our approach remained the same.
And what have we got to show for it? So much.
All thanks to work we did together over the past year.
Here's just some of what we all campaigned for, and had delivered for the people of NSW.
• Vax leave for public servants in NSW
• Vax for retail workers
• Job keeper 2.0
• Financial support for casuals
• Religious leaders having access to churches for online services
