Visiting Ukraine for the 4th time since the full scale invasion. 🇺🇦 Defence minister @Denys_Shmyhal and I have now signed an agreement on the production of defence materiel by 🇸🇪 and 🇺🇦 companies in Sweden. We are aiming to increase our defence industrial output. (1/5)
Ukraine will share and provide technology for its factories in Sweden and defence materiel co-produced in Sweden will be exported to Ukraine. Co-produced equipment can also be procured for the Swedish Armed Forces. (2/5)
This letter of intent will be followed by further discussions between Sweden and Ukraine on how we can deepen defence industrial cooperation. We can learn a lot from each other and this agreement aims to make use of that possibility. (3/5)
Ukraine already supplies almost half of its battlefield needs through its own defence industry: a major move toward self-reliance in wartime production. This agreement can strengthen that resilience even more. (4/5)
In summary, this agreement will strengthen Sweden’s, Ukraine’s and Europe’s defence industrial base. It can boost Swedish rearmament and meet the needs of Ukraine's armed forces. (5/5)

🇸🇪🇧🇷 200 years of diplomatic relations & a defence partnership that continues to grow. During José Múcio’s visit, Brazil highlighted initiatives for 20 additional Gripen E/F aircraft, on top of the previously announced 25% increase to the original 36 E/F aircraft contract. (1/3)
The Sweden-Brazil partnership goes beyond a traditional buyer-seller relationship. Gripen is built on joint development, technology transfer, industrial cooperation and long-term investments in innovation and expertise, strengthening both capabilities and industrial ties. (2/3)
Recent milestones show the depth of this cooperation. In March, the first Gripen E produced in Brazil was rolled out in Gavião Peixoto. This week, the first two-seat Gripen F was unveiled in Linköping, reflecting shared commitment and close industrial partnership. (3/3)
Russia tried to break Ukraine from the skies. Ukraine is now building air power with Swedish fighters: buying up to 20 Gripen E/F for its future air force, while Sweden will donate 16 Gripen C/D.
A new chapter for Ukraine’s air defence. (1/8)
Training of Ukrainian pilots and technicians is already underway and will expand this autumn.
Gripen C/D can be delivered with weapons such as IRIS-T, AMRAAM and the long-range Meteor missile. This is about aircraft, weapons, skills and sustainment. (2/8)
Ukraine is not just receiving aircraft. Ukraine is building a modern air force able to fight, survive and adapt under the hardest conditions in Europe.
Gripen C/D answers urgent needs. Gripen E/F builds the future. Together, they create momentum. (3/8)
🇸🇪🇨🇴I'm proud that Colombia today joins the Gripen E family, alongside Sweden, Brazil and Thailand. With the Colombian purchase of 17 Gripen E/F, our defence relations will deepen significantly & Colombia will receive one of the world’s greatest fighter jets. (1/4)
Colombia will benefit from the Gripen's cutting-edge technology, low operating cost & high availability. For Sweden this means that we secure & invest in production and research abilities for fighter jets. More partners means that the Gripen program can evolve even further. (2/4)
Sweden and Colombia established relations early on. In 1820, king Karl XIV Johan sent Count Fredrik Adlercreutz to Colombia to support Simón Bolívar in the struggle for independence. He played an important role in liberating the city of Cartagena in 1821. (3/4)
Över 1,5 miljarder investeras även i
stridsflygförmågan. Vi kommer köpa in fler reservdelar, uppdragsutrustning och materiel för att kunna operera vid flyg- och vägbaser. Det stärker Gripens tillgänglighet och uthållighet i fred, kris och krig. (3/4)
🇸🇪🇺🇦Today Sweden presented UA support package 20, worth $836 million. It contains among other things, 18 new Archer systems, an extension of Sweden's long-term military aid to Ukraine with $3.6 billion yearly 2026-2027, and $900 million in yearly civil funding 2026-2028. (1/6)
We will procure 18 new Archer systems & more 155mm ammunition worth $327 million. This brings Ukraine´s total Archer inventory up to 44 systems. When I visited the UA company using Archer last month, they confirmed the effectiveness against Russian targets and attacks. (2/6)
At the marine domain we will procure materiel worth $190 million. Among other things mobile costal radar systems, new marine support vessels with grenade launches & unmanned systems. The 32 donated Combat boat 90 will get additional sensors, weapons systems and radars. (3/6)
Three and a half years into Russia’s full-scale invasion, Europe is still not ready for major war. We are stronger than in 2022, but the illusion that peace is natural has been shattered. Rearmament is underway, yet the pace must increase to match the threat we face. (1/5)
Sweden’s NATO membership marks a historic shift. For the first time in 300 years, Swedish forces are deployed on the Eastern & Southern Baltic shores together with allies, from the Arctic to the Baltics. Northern Europe is now one single strategic space under NATO planning. (2/5)
But readiness is not just about troops on the ground. Russia, supported by China, Iran and North Korea, is outproducing us in tanks, missiles and drones. To adapt, Europe must innovate faster, increase production and break the cost curve of defence materiel. (3/5)
