Russian operators often claim that the Ukrainians hijacked their drone to explain its loss to their boss.
One of their own describes what really happens.

“So, we found out that you cannot hijack commercial drones (Mavics, Autelis, and Matrices) in the sense of taking control.
1/ Image
“What can you do then?
The simplest thing is to let it fly away with the wind into the sunset. Again, to understand the problem, you need to know your hardware!
2/
“The Mavic 3 (the most common series on the front) determines its position in space by barometer (altitude), signals from navigation satellites (altitude, speed relative to the ground, drone's geographic location), and the Visual Positioning system…
3/
“…(machine vision cameras that memorize the surface beneath the drone and keep it in the position specified by the operator, simply by remembering what it is hovering over).
4/ Image
“When all systems work normally, even a tea mushroom could control the drone — it hovers by itself, holds position and altitude, counters the wind up to critical values.
Now we introduce satellite failure into the equation. Complete failure.
5/
“On the 1.5 GHz frequency, a powerful emitter broadcasts white or pink noise. Satellites are far in space, their signals are weak. Jamming navigation is technically the easiest task.
But the Mavic has in reserve what is popularly called ‘vision-position.’
6/ Image
“The drone remembers what it is hovering over and clearly sees these objects with its machine vision cameras.
Now introduce night, haze, scratched lenses from a previous landing in a cornfield, or lenses smeared with dirty hands on the belly.
7/
“Or a low-contrast underlying surface: lake, sea, snowy field, etc. Or high altitude (the manufacturer claims 250 meters, we practically believe in 200m max). And the drone cannot understand where it is. No satellite signals, no visual cues.
8/
“The drone only knows its altitude from the barometer. It is physical and cannot be jammed by radio interference.
And the drone, holding altitude, moves with the air mass. In other words, it is simply blown away. The drone switches to ATTI mode, meaning ‘altitude hold.’
9/ Image
“The girl-fixer on the controller shouts ‘Alarm!!’ The fighter who held the Mavic five times and flew it up and down three times gets lost. Meanwhile, the drone is carried by the wind beyond the controller's range.
10/
“If the wind direction matches, to an inexperienced warrior it looks like: I raised the drone, and it rushed toward the Ukrainians. Hijacked, bastards.
11/
“And the fighter must do as Stitch in the picture [below] so the commander immediately understands the technological power of the Ukrainians.
12/ Image
“To an experienced warrior, it looks like this: satellites dropped out, the drone fell into ATTI, I took the sticks and, like an FPV drone (which, by the way, still holds altitude), manually held it in the desired place.
13/
“And in general, I have flown in ATTI all my life; we have never seen satellites here.
So, if you look at the process from the point of view of hardware and physics, not magic — everything is clear, this is not even close to a hijack.”

Israeli-Ukrainian military analyst Yigal Levin comments on Zaluzhnyi refusing to even speak to Vance when he called regarding replacing President Zelensky.

“This information from The Guardian that the US was looking for a replacement for Zelensky six months ago, …
1/ Image
“…and that they even called Zaluzhny but he didn’t pick up, is not surprising at all.

I actually wrote about this six months ago — we Israelis know well the nature of the US and the essence of American strategy.
2/
“And yes, they are great masters of coups and replacing disobedient elites.

Back then, Zaluzhny, on the contrary, met with Zelensky, making it clear to the Americans that during the war he would not allow the political echelon to be split.

The ending of Mavic 3 production in favor of Mavic 4 has adversely affected both sides in Ukraine.
Ukrainian EW expert Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov reviews the prospects for the Mavic 4.

“1. Both we and the Russians lost a lot of DJI drones due to electronic warfare (EW).
1/ Image
“2. The Russians write their own firmware 1001 for Mavics (not without help from the Chinese), and we use it too. Thanks to this firmware, Mavics no longer "fall" under EW but fly upwards searching for a stable signal from the operator.
2/
“The operator then brings the drone back home.

3. Losses of Mavics are minimized.

4. DJI recently announced the release of the 4th generation of drones, for which there is no 1001 firmware and no magical EW countermeasures. Production of the 3rd series is discontinued.

The Ukrainian “Peaky Blinders” drone unit gives an encouraging report of recent conditions in the Pokrovsk area.

“Being on rotation in the Pokrovsk area for some time now, we have done a considerable amount of work and come to certain conclusions.
1/
“The situation here now is very different from what it was in the spring. Back then, Russian troops moved in groups of 2-4 people and tried to involve large forces for advancement.
2/
“But now they have been forced to significantly reduce their movements and they walk exclusively alone. Enemy infantry has noticeably decreased, but our drone operators have significantly increased. This means there is direct competition to destroy the target.

Russian blogger “Philologist” (Svyatoslav Golikov) admits that Ukrainian military analyst Konstantin Mashovets is correct in describing the critical effects on the Russian army of attacks on fuel and railway systems.

“A few days ago Konstantin Mashovets wrote (quote):
1/ Image
“ ‘No one needs to explain the direct connection between strikes on oil refineries, fuel railway trains, transport hubs (especially railway ones), and the capabilities of Russian troops to carry out operational and strategic maneuvers with forces and means…

“…within the framework of operational deployment of their strike groupings in certain operational directions.’

The Russians claim that Ukraine has begun to implement mesh networks for FPVs.
New compact, inexpensive modems allow a swarm of drones to combine into a local network.
Each FPV can transmit and receive digital data packets.
1/ Image
The operator when connected to one drone can control any other in the network.
The connection to the final FPV can be transmitted not through a single channel but simultaneously by several nearby drones.
This significantly increases resistance to EW jamming.
2/ Image
The more drones in a network, the greater the resistance to jamming.
Such a system would serve as a very jam-resistant repeater network to extend the range of FPVs, instead of using a traditional single radio repeater drone.

Israeli-Ukrainian military analyst Yigal Levin explains why Putin has convinced Trump to avoid a ceasefire.

“Why did Putin speak out against a ceasefire at the meeting with Trump and propose an alternative in the form of signing a comprehensive agreement to end the war?
1/ Image
“That is, a peace treaty.

There is a point here that, as I noticed, some people miss.

A ceasefire can be organized as soon as tomorrow, all it takes is an order, and then it depends on the field commanders to comply with it.
2/
“A ceasefire can stop the war almost instantly if the senior and field commanders on both sides honor the agreement.

Or, at the very least, minimize and reduce violence on the front to the realistically possible minimum.
