At first glance, it feels odd why keep thousands?
It's not a bank - no interest ! So Why ?
But there’s logic👇

Main Reason = Credit Card Reward Maximization and expense consolidation 💳
Many banks (Amex, Axis, HDFC, IDFC etc.) give points and accelerated 2X–5X rewards if you buy Amazon Pay gift cards via their portals.
Buying ₹10K (many have this limit) – ₹50K every month = accelerated reward points
Essentially, Amazon Pay becomes a “storage wallet” for credit card spends
Where do we use? 🌍
Amazon Pay balance isn’t just for Amazon shopping.
It can be used for:
✅ Bills (electricity, broadband, gas, DTH, recharge, FastTag) - Upto Rs.25K/month
✅ Insurance premiums - direct upto Rs.25K/month
✅ Food & grocery (Swiggy, Zomato, BigBasket, Blinkit, Zepto, bbNow etc.)
✅ Travel (Uber, Ola, Rapido, IRCTC, BookMyShow)
✅ Health (PharmEasy, Tata 1mg, PolicyBazaar, NivaBupa)
✅ Services (UrbanCompany etc.)
Many more options accept Amazon Pay payment
Also, some vouchers can be bought through Amazon Pay balance to make purchases at Homecenter, FirstCry, Lifestyle, Westside etc.
Double / Triple Dip Benefits 🔥
Example : Bigbasket
- Buy Amazon Pay via card portal → earn bonus points
- Use Amazon Pay to buy other GVs (like BigBasket at 2–4% discount)
- Pay via TataNeu/other apps → earn extra cashback/coins
How do we buy?
We personally have AXIS M4B card which gives 35 ER/Rs.200 after Rs.1.5L in a month. In such months, we stack up and purchase Rs.60-80K Amazon Pay balance
Rs 10,000 (after 1.5L spends) gives 1750 ER
(35 ER/Rs.200) in AEP month
1750 ER = 1400 Miles (Airlines & Hotels)
Mile value varies from Rs.0.5 - Rs.2 based on redemption (Krisflyer, Accor, Marriott, ITC etc.)
Details:
Buying Rs.10000 Amazon Pay gives
- Rs.2800 Accor Value (Stay in Novotel, iBIS etc.)
- Rs.1400 ITC Value (Stay in ITC hotels)
I have Rs.23000 Insurance pay coming up
Hence loaded balance for the same.
More places where I use (why Rs.75,000):
- Ola, Uber (Uber gives 5% back)
- BBDaily (for milk)
- Zepto, Swiggy, Zomato
- Policybazaar (Insurance above 25K)
- UrbanCompany (for services)
- All electricity bills
- Airtel for post paid bills
- Gold Purchases
.... and more
Smart Caution ⚠️
While it’s tempting to stack up big balances, it’s better to:
- Add only as needed (1–2 months’ spends)
- Avoid keeping huge idle balances
- Use it actively for bills, groceries, travel etc.
I gave example of AXIS as I use it the max ! But almost every card gives some or the other benefits
- SBI Cashback (Buy Amazon Pay Gift Card directly from Amazon and Get 5% CB)
- HDFC Cards - buy from HDFC SmartBuy
- Amex Cards - Buy from Amex Reward Multiplier
- ICICI Cards - Buy from iSHOP
- AXIS Cards - Buy from Gyftr AXIS (0.5% CB)

Buying gold using credit cards is great, but how did we maximize the reward value ! 👇 Works for Kalyan, Joyalukkas, Malabar, Reliance Jewels, GRT, Josalukkas, Tanishq and more..
From 2023, we stopped buying GOLD & Jewelry directly with cash or debit cards
The 2 approaches we followed:
Approach 1 : Buying gold coins & pendants online at discount
Approach 2 : Buying Gift vouchers to maximize the returns. There are double, triple offers you can apply
Used to purchase gold coins & pendants online at discount aggressively for 2020-2024 period.
All the accumulated gold coins can be exchanged at Today's market Price at most of the jeweler.
P.S. We buy only 24KT gold coins/pendants (995 & 999 purity). We are not buying aggressively in 2025 as the GOLD price is very high and we don't have any immediate spends

🧵 Water Purifiers in India — What No One Tells You
. BOOKMARK | LIKE | SHARE 🙏
Almost every user feels cheated in the water purifier space. If you're planning to buy a water purifier, read this before spending a rupee
I've tried many brands. Here's a no-BS guide based on experience, scams, and service horror stories. 👇
🚱 Why the Water Purifier Market in India Feels Like a Scam
1. AMC Trap (Annual Maintenance Contract)
This is the #1 pain point. Most brands sell you a low-cost device, but then trap you into high-cost servicing. AMC charges often go from ₹4K–₹7K/year — which means you’re effectively leasing the purifier.
🧠 Pro tip: Always ask filter life (in litres) and cost of each replacement. That’s where the trap lies
2. Water Wastage in RO Systems
For every 1L of purified water, 2-3L is wasted. In apartments, this goes unnoticed. But it’s an ecological disaster.
3. TDS Confusion: Most Buyers Don’t Know Their Water Quality
RO is only needed if TDS > 500 (like in borewell water). City/tap/municipal water with <300 TDS? RO is overkill. You're losing essential minerals and water.
➡️ Use a TDS meter (₹200-₹300) before buying anything. Most people skip this, and brands won't tell you either
RO (Reverse Osmosis)
➤ Removes everything, including minerals.
➤ Must be used with TDS controller/Mineralizer.
➤ Needed for borewell, high TDS, salty water.
UV (Ultraviolet)
➤ Kills bacteria & viruses. Doesn’t remove chemicals or TDS.
➤ Good for metro city supply water (chlorinated/treated).
UF (Ultrafiltration)
➤ Gravity-based. Removes visible particles & cysts.
➤ No electricity needed. Used in rural/low-pressure areas.
In small towns & villages, it's getting harder to find reliable house help. So we decided to buy a basic dishwasher. My Mother In Law has been using one for 3 yrs.
Investment - Rs.25,000
Here’s our experience —and why it’s worth it
At first, we weren’t sure if it would work for Indian kitchens—our food uses oil, masalas, kadhai, pressure cookers, etc. And honestly, we weren’t sure if our mom would even want to try it.
Fast forward to today: she uses it every day and proudly tells everyone how much easier it has made her life. No more standing for hours washing utensils.
The dishwasher cleans everything—steel plates, kadhai, spoons, cooker lids—no fuss. Just load, press start, and relax.
Why it works so well in Indian homes:
- Works for heavy-duty Indian cooking utensils—no need to pre-wash.
- Saves time and energy, especially for older parents.
- One Finish capsule and normal tap water is enough.
- Great for hygiene—dishes come out clean, dry, and odor-free.
- Can handle a full load or even just one rack (for fewer dishes).
- Comes with modes for different wash times (from ~3 hours to fast 30–40 minute cycles).
- Foldable racks make it easy to fit big vessels and different shapes.
