All the "IQ Discourse" doesn't take into account that above the median, IQ is diminishing returns-- elite midwits are the only people interested in just accumulating money & status for its own sake-- the highest IQ person I ever met was a "mentally ill" homeless person.
IQ is also correlated with executive function-- if you have really high executive function your basic principle is "leave me alone" & not wanting to have to follow orders. Lao Tzu was more high IQ than Confucius, & Confucius essentially admits this when he refuses the call to be emperor-- being emperor sucks, any extremely intelligent person would do everything to avoid that imposition on life. The highest IQ person in the world probably plays video games all day & schemes the disability system. The only people interested in public acclaim in the form of status & money are midwits.
This "mentally ill" homeless person got free money from the government to spend all day doing whatever he wanted to do, which was mostly reading & playing RTS games on his laptop. This was in a homeless shelter in Cambridge MA.
All his meals were paid for, he had a place to sleep, he had his laptop & he did whatever he felt like all day & laughed at everyone else. To put it this way "he was perpetually traveling and staying in hostels, didn't need a job"-- this is how you'd have to explain the appeal to midwits. "He was freer than either of us."

Nikola Telsa was more interested in his pigeons than in money or status. That's what actually "high IQ" looks like-- it doesn't look like "respectable normal high status wealthy" person-- it looks indistinguishable from "crazy homeless person."
That's the funny thing-- there's a bell curve, where it becomes difficult for the median to distinguish the poles-- is that person a genius or are they retarded? Hard to tell from the peak of mediocrity, where you're rewarded with status & wealth.

Meanwhile, when I worked on an assembly line packaging fucking desserts there was this grad school drop out "bohemian" guy & we'd talk about Heidegger while packaging pies. His other job was working at a used book store. He was better read than any "elite" person I've met since.
What is it that these people in the "IQ" discourse really want? They want money & status. They wouldn't want "IQ" if it didn't provide them either of those things or hampered it.
