I don't think the left and Acela Corridor folks realize how hard in America it has been for SO long to be an open conservative. How often we'd have to self-censor, how people have lost jobs over their beliefs, etc.
They don't get "it". We've been told repeatedly our views and policies kill people (which is ironic coming from the party of abortion, but whatever), that we are evil, that we are hateful, that we are dangerous.
It's been that way my entire adult life. You were evil if you voted for George Bush, you were a racist for voting for Romney, you were against democracy itself if you voted for Trump.
We we've been told, and the world saw us as not simply wrong, but on the side of all that is bad and evil in this world. Only now as it was *just* starting to shift back, the person in the forefront fighting to normalize dialogue and humanize conservatives was murdered.
And he was murdered in front of young adults, and the video of it was autoplayed online that children saw it. CHILDREN (a forever reminder not to allow your kids to use social media so they can avoid seeing things like that).
Part of the reason people on the right are so angry and honestly terrified is they are afraid the momentum will be lost and they will have to go back to self-censoring just when they felt like they could live normally. The world, once again, feels unfair.
And if you can't see that, or understand what is happening and that the focus shouldn't be, "whatabout that thing that happened here too"- then kindly and respectfully- maybe commentating on the culture and politics today isn't for you.
People on the left haven't had to check their words before they talk to people- afraid they are going to be ostracized with other parents, on their kids' sports sideline, at work, etc. They have no clue what the normie conservative experience has been for DECADES.
It was finally getting back to a place where conservatives felt they could be more open- and yesterday several public figures were open about liking Kirk and being friends with them. And check their comment sections on said posts. It's just like the good 'ole days.
The elites, the left, the DC/NY crowd has ZERO clue why people on the right are SO angry. In part it's not merely anger, it's fear. Fear that the progress of being able to be openly conservative might be fleeting.
Charlie was good, he was kind, he was patient, he was open. And he was killed for it. And instead of seeking to understand and listen to conservatives who are telling you all exactly why this moment is a huge one, we are being lectured *again* about what we are doing wrong.
Conservatives are being told repeatedly that they aren't grieving this moment correctly, and we have to make "space" to acknowledge all of the other slights and hurts that they blame on conservatives in years past. It's rage-inducing.

Another thought on "Original Sin" that is honestly not the fault of the authors, but the fault of the powers-that-be at large: the conversation around Biden's decline now centers around the book, not the Presidency itself. Let me explain.
Everything about the current decline conversation is centered around the book and just.... stops. But other reporters have other sources- they could be revealing new information, looking back on things through the lens of the cover-up and breaking news about the Biden term.
But you'll notice, they... aren't. There were 200 sources for the book, and now those sources have nothing else to say? Only 200 people were in the know? There isn't anyone else willing to talk? We aren't looking back on the events knowing he wasn't competent.

I think that Morning Joe take showed a deep misunderstanding of the AZ race. Gallego won because he essentially ran unopposed. He had way more $, ran ads for months without any competing ads. All ads were around abortion initially (riding the tailcoats of Prop 139). (1/2)
There were no Lake signs, no real Lake operation, and even though Gallego essentially ran unopposed he still barely won. But he won solely bc he wasn't Lake and came out of this race not having really been challenged politically. Gallego '28 could easily be Harris '24. (2/2)
Bonus thought: as the race got tighter they pulled Gallego himself out of his ads entirely. It was just a table of vets talking about service and the other was Mark Kelly direct-to-camera talking about Gallego. If they’re going to make him heir-apparent they have work to do.

I rewatched the debate (I know, I know). And I think a lot of us that work in politics (especially conservative politics) had a snap reaction based on how we would want our messaging or strategy to play out against VP Harris missed something huge.
Millions of Americans are just tuning into the election, millions say they don't know enough or much about Harris. And the first question was are you better off than you were 4 years ago and the very first impression Harris gave millions was a rambling answer about nothing.
Her first impression was TERRIBLE. She looked weak, her answer displayed a total lack of empathy for the struggle of so many Americans under the administration she is 1/2 of. It was BAD. Not a little bad, really bad.

The Biden-Harris administration and the Harris campaign refuse to reach out to the Gold Star families of the Abbey Gate disaster because then they’d have to admit the Afghanistan withdrawal was a disaster.
So, they essentially ignored the anniversary. Trump, at the request of the families, went to a ceremony and showed a human side, a compassionate side, and in doing so highlighted the reality that Biden and Harris routinely ignore these families.
Since this whole ceremony unintentionally made Biden and Harris look awful, Harris and her allies had to make the event a “bad” thing. First they tried the altercation narrative, then when that didn’t stick they are playing the “he’s politicizing Arlington” narrative.

Remember when all The Post had to do was delete a story that ended up being completely and totally accurate and EVERYONE tried to pretend it wasn't (even though it was very obviously true)? Just over two years ago. Good times. Also: this is how Twitter ended up with Elon.
The Hunter Biden laptop/NY Post/Twitter debacle was the beginning of the movement that ultimately culminated in Elon taking over. Censoring conversation they disagreed with while allowing the flipping Taliban to post was a major Red Pill moment for a LOT of people.
And to (basically everyone) the Hunter Biden laptop story was SO obviously true. And to see "everyone" fall in line ahead of an election and not just lie but ban conversation about it was completely insane. I say this as someone who was/is not a Trump fan.

I actually think this is my favorite line: "Two weeks ago, Mrs. Fetterman’s husband, John, beat television personality Mehmet Oz". As if that's all Oz was. Just a television personality, nothing more. Uh huh.
We all have to call Jill Biden "Dr. Jill Biden", but Oz who is an actual M.D., is just a television personality. Okay.
There is this trend on the left in particular to diminish or completely ignore the accomplishments/achievements of those they disagree with. You can disagree with someone and still acknowledge what they've accomplished.
