Charlie Kirk was shot and killed yesterday. Now the entire right is already blaming “the left’s rhetoric” and declaring “This is war!” His death was horrific.

But let’s be really clear: if anyone’s *rhetoric* is responsible, it’s Donald Trump’s and the MAGA right’s (THREAD 🧵)

Just 5 days ago, Trump literally declared “war” on Democrat-run cities. He’s called Democrats “the enemy within.” He’s built his entire political movement on rage, dehumanization, and violence. That’s the rhetoric that’s “poisoning the blood” of America. Not immigrants.

For years now, Trump and his allies have told their followers that Democrats are “evil,” the free press is “the enemy of the people,” immigrants are “invaders,” and political opponents are guilty of treason and should be jailed/executed. That’s not debate. That’s dehumanization.

Kirk himself built a career pumping poison into our politics — pushing lies about elections, COVID, LGBTQ people, immigrants, Black people, women, and universities. His Turning Point empire normalized and capitalized on hate & conspiracy theories that fueled harassment & violence

And let’s talk about timing: Trump was somehow the *first* to announce Kirk’s death — before the police had even confirmed it and while the shooter was still at large. So how exactly did he know? And why was he so quick and eager to seize the mic (which he used to blame Dems)?

This murder doesn’t benefit the left in any way. It benefits the right. They get a martyr, a narrative to weaponize, and a chance to paint their opponents as dangerous and criminal. The left gains nothing from this. NOTHING. So why would someone on the left do this? They wouldn’t

Meanwhile, Trump has every reason to distract from the Epstein files. Kirk was one of the few prominent right-wingers who was continuing to call for the full release of the files — even *after* Trump told him EXPLICITLY to back off. Trump had the most to gain from silencing him.

Every time right-wing extremist violence happens (which is most of it, btw), they downplay it. Buffalo. El Paso. Pittsburgh. Oklahoma City. Jan 6th.

They either ignore it, excuse it, or say the left “made them do it.” Now they flip the script when tragedy hits one of their own.

Us psychologists have a term for this. It’s called PROJECTION. The right accuses the left of exactly what they themselves are guilty of: inciting violence, stoking rage, and tearing the country apart for clicks, cash & power. And Trump and MAGA do this CONSTANTLY EVERY SINGLE DAY

The truth that they can’t accept and will never admit is that it’s MAGA rhetoric— not progressive activism or “the left” — that’s radicalized America. They want their political enemies jailed, deported, or executed without due process. Thats tyranny. And fascism.

Trumpism made violence an intrinsic part of politics. And until we confront THAT reality, and implement common sense gun safety laws, we’ll continue living in the dark place that Laura Ingraham pretends to be concerned about and futilely tries to scapegoat the left for
