HIGH CORTISOL: Here are 5 ways to lower it (backed by research):

#1 GABA

GABA completely stops cortisol.

25-50 mg orally halts it in response to physiological stress, improving:

⊙ Fatigue
⊙ Concentration
⊙ Physical discomfort

(🧵1/9) Image
GABA can suppress cortisol by its action in the brain.

The hypothalamus produces CRH ➞ pituitary to produce ACTH ➞ adrenals to produce cortisol.

GABA input to the hypothalamus calms these neurons, preventing CRH release and cortisol production.

#2 Grounding

6 weeks of grounding completely normalized the cortisol pattern throughout the day.

& improved sleep.

The difference is dramatic in my experience (+ with clients).

(3/9) Image
With contact to the earth, the brain puts out less CRF,

a protein that starts the cascade that produces cortisol - making us stressed, jittery, restless and anxious.

Probably a big reason why we see grounding be so beneficial.

(4/9) Image
#3 Sugar

Experiments show that animals without adrenal glands produce less CRH (or CRF, same thing) when they consume sugar.

The more sugar they consume, the less CRF they produce.

Eating sugar can acutely lower cortisol (vs aspartame).

(5/9) Image

Several neurons in the hypothalamus are considered to be glucose sensitive.

When blood sugar drops, they produce CRH to raise blood sugar.

But just eating sugar can quickly satisfy these neurons and stop the CRH production.

(6/9) Image
#4 DHEA

DHEA nearly cuts cortisol in half.

DHEA directly inhibits the production of cortisol in the adrenals and opposes all of the functions of cortisol:

☆ Relaxes mood
☆ Reduces belly fat
☆ Preserves brain function
☆ Puts on muscle
☆ Improves skin quality
☆ Improves immunity
☆ Reduces disease risk
☆ Improves mitochondrial function

25 mg per day here - we prefer to start at much lower amounts (<5 mg).

(7/9)Image
DHEA in a few ways to lower cortisol.

1. Suppresses cortisol-mediated gene expression
2. Inhibits 11βHSD1
3. Lowers the ratio of cortisol receptors (GRα to GRβ) - which suppresses cortisol receptor activation.

(8/9) Image
#5 Vitamin D

Vitamin D lowers cortisol by 40%.

Just 2,000 IU / day here, a few minutes outside during peak sun hours.

It also lowered blood pressure substantially (by 9/7 mmHg).

Likely by:

◈ Inhibiting 11BHSD1
◈ Lowering inflammation
◈ Controlling calcium balance in the brain

Ivermectin has some striking anti-cancer properties.

(🧵1/8)Image
A study came out earlier this year in Nature, one of the biggest biology journals on the planet.

The big finding was that Ivermectin turned "cold tumors" into "hot tumors" - essentially meaning they were more likely to be seen and destroyed by the immune system.

Thus, it induced immunogenic cancer cell death (ICD).

CD4 + CD8 are markers for immune cells called T cells - as you can see they were in greater amounts around the tumor with ivermectin.

This shrank breast tumors.

(2/8)Image
One of the main ways ivermectin was therapeutic here was by inducing ATP dependent pathways in immune cells.

ATP is the energy life force of our cells, but when it's outside the cells, that's usually a sign they're dying and releasing it - so it's an immune trigger.

Ivermectin acts on this pathway to activate immune cells, which in cancer therapy, is good, since the immune system clears out cancer cells.

Bluetooth headphones might cause serious damage, new research has shown.

(🧵1/7)Image
This study was published last year in Nature.

While it is an epidemiological study, the researchers implemented several techniques to minimize confounding variables.

They did this by "matching" people with Propensity Score Matching (PSM).

That means they found a "twin" for each person (similar in all measured aspects like age, sex, obesity, smoking etc.) - one using and one not using bluetooth headphones.

(2/7)Image

They then used machine learning to predict what factors were most associated with thyroid nodules.

The machine predicted nodules with 95% accuracy.

In other words, this robot they made was almost perfect at guessing whether or not someone had a thyroid nodule just on their survey information.

Aspirin is as effective as Cialis for erectile dysfunction - an unexpected finding from a recent study shows.

(1/8)Image
Image
This study was published in 2019, investigating men with vascular ED.

Aspirin was compared to tadalafil (Cialis) head to head.

(2/8) Image
Over 300 men were involved.

Group 1: Aspirin 100 mg / day - 120 men
Group 2: Cialis (tadalafil) 5 mg / day - 65 men
Group 3: Both - 67 men
Group 4: Placebo - 64 men

Apple cider vinegar can shed ~7 pounds a month and reduce insulin resistance, a new study demonstrates.

(🧵1/7)Image
This study was published last year in the prestigious British Medical Journal.

It involved 120 people, giving them either:

◇ 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (group 1)
◇ 2 tsp (group 2)
◇ 3 tsp (group 3)
◇ Placebo (group 4)

No other changes in diet or supplements.

(2/7) Image
At baseline, all groups were equal in all measures.

They looked at:

➥ Weight
➥ BMI
➥ Waist circumfrence
➥ Hip circumfrence
➥ Body fat %
➥ Fasting blood sugar
➥ Lipids

Magnesium rapidly (15 mins) and completely stops headaches, including migraines, in the vast majority of people.

(🧵1/8)Image
We have three oldish studies on this protocol, which is 1 gram of magnesium sulfate administered intravenously.

That's around 200 mg of elemental magnesium.

In this first paper, 40 people came to the clinic with various forms of headache, including chronic migraines.

(2/8) Image
Magnesium reduced headache / migraine severity by >50% in 80% of people.

In the people that it did help, 80% of them had complete elimination of pain.

In 15 minutes.

Collagen can reverse aging in the brain, even in small amounts, according to a recent study.

(🧵1/7)Image
This study was published in 2019 in the Journal of Nutrients.

Healthy patients age 49-63 received just 5g of collagen a day, a bit over a teaspoon.

They got imaging on their brains to see the structural impacts collagen would have, along with tests on memory and learning.

(2/7)Image
Collagen increased white matter in the brain after just 4 weeks.

White matter is the tissue in brain that mainly reflects the axons of neurons - the part that transmits signals to other neurons.

This indicates much better overall brain health.
