🧵Haaretz published a Hebrew-only article today, nominally about Israeli soldiers facing PTSD from their time in Gaza, with numerous admissions to killing children.
“… ‘We enter the area…and start spraying, firing hundreds of bullets. Then we charged forward, and then I realized that it was a mistake.’ There was no terrorist there. ‘I saw two bodies of children, maybe eight years old, maybe ten’… the company commander arrived and said coldly, as if he wasn't human, 'They entered the extermination area, it's their fault, that's how it is in war.’”
"‘Every day we have the same mission, to secure the humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip’… the residents try to move forward to take a good place in line, but there is a line ahead of them that they do not notice. ‘A line that if they cross, I can shoot them,’ explains Benny. ‘It's like a game of cat and mouse. They try to come from a different way every time, and l'm there with the sniper rifle, and the officers are shouting at me, 'Take it down, take it down. I shoot 50-60 bullets every day, I stopped counting Xs. I have no idea how many I killed, a lot. Children.’”
“‘The officers don't care if children die, nor do they care what it does to my soul. As far as they're concerned, I'm just another tool.’”
“One of them even said that during one of the operations in the Gaza Strip, the platoon's soldiers accidentally killed a woman and her two children, who had entered an arbitrary extermination zone set by the army. ‘We didn't know, we saw three figures and we shot according to orders,’ he said.”
The article details soldier suicides, denial of mental health care, and even imprisonment for breakdowns—and twice mentions soldiers pissing themselves.
Haaretz usually translates its Hebrew articles into English within a few days. In the meantime, here’s the original: haaretz.co.il/news/magazine/…
And while you are here, be sure to check out my latest Substack post, American Snipers, about two assassins who made the news this week: one who will never see freedom again after killing Charlie Kirk, the other who will likely never pay a real price after celebrating the execution of 100+ unarmed Palestinians. infinitejaz.substack.com/p/american-sni…
It should be noted that this article is about soldiers firing indiscriminately into civilian areas and killing children. Yesterday the Dutch newspaper @volkskrant published (yet another) investigation into children being killed by single sniper bullets to the head or chest. (More in my newsletter, linked above.)

I spoke to a teacher at a fancy NYC private school last night who said that on Wednesday the kids spent the whole day on TikTok watching the unblurred close-up assassination video, and the school couldn’t stop it. That seems… really bad.
I remember in 2004 some kid at school went to great lengths to navigate the dark corners of the internet and find the nick berg beheading video. Seemed like it really fucked him up. It is so insane that this stuff is passed around like cat videos now
Obviously 2 years of a live-streamed genocide in Gaza also very bad for the young brain in particular.
Will media critic and “Gaza Famine Myth” author Michael Ames (@mirkel) apologize for spending two days pushing misinformation about the Charlie Kirk assassination to vilify trans people and the left? For a guy so concerned with media bias, he sure doesn’t seem to care much for facts.
This guy calls Drop Site News “foreign agitprop” for publishing Hamas’s statements verbatim, and tried to get me deplatformed for writing a freelance piece for them. Meanwhile he spends all fucking day tweeting far-right conspiracy theories. This is what @TheFP is all about.
@TheFP Michael, you’re suffering from severe brain rot, and your reckless tweeting can have real consequences, particularly against trans people. Take a sabbatical, reflect, and repent.
An Israeli sniper from Chicago, after killing a 19-year-old and then shooting his brother for trying to retrieve the body: "What was so important about that corpse?”
Those were 2 of the 4 members of the same family killed by Israeli snipers on a single day in Gaza, Nov 2023.
🧵Israel’s Supreme Court, which rarely challenges the country’s war conduct, ruled today that the government is failing to give Palestinian prisoners enough food to ensure a “basic level of existence.” Ben Gvir called the judges a disgrace and vowed to change nothing.
In other words, Israel’s Supreme Court ruled that the government is starving its 11,000+ Palestinian prisoners, about a third of whom have not been charged. If you haven’t seen this yet, that’s because not a single major US paper has picked up the story.
Reminder: since October 7, Israel has banned the Red Cross from visiting Palestinian prisoners or even receiving information about them—a blatant violation of international law.
I am trying to track an insane story about Israeli soldiers potentially being captured during a massive Hamas ambush in Gaza, and you’re telling me Trump is dead?
🧵Quick thread on Ynet’s report about the “West Bank sovereignty plan” settler leaders are pushing Netanyahu to adopt, based on a previously unreported meeting the PM held last week.
The question has always been: if Israel declares sovereignty over the West Bank, where exactly will it do it? Just the settlements? The whole territory, risking international condemnation? Only the eastern border, under the guise of “security”? Now a new plan has been revealed.
Settler leaders are now pressing Netanyahu to declare sovereignty over every part of the West Bank without major Palestinian population centers, whether in Areas A, B, or C. The plan would “effectively alter the map with minimal demographic consequences”—in other words, annex as much land as possible without the obligation to grant Palestinians citizenship. From there, they buy time to continue the ethnic cleansing of the remaining Palestinian areas, after which they’ll surely annex them too.
