Day 1301 of Ukraine fighting for its survival. The right to be free, speak their own language, worship in their own churches, to learn their own history.
A history of long suppression by Russia.
As war crimes grow daily, the words "never again" don't seem to apply.
Here's the🧵
Yesterday began, and ended, with Russia attacking Zaporizhzhia, injuring civilians.
Also, the head of the IAEA disgraced himself in Russia's arms, changes of 🇺🇦army leadership, and how a Russian guy was a Putin opponent, until 3 mins after being elected.
1/2 First though a breaking news after a number of morning attacks by Russia, particularly in Kyiv region.
This is in the town of Fastiv where a logistics centre for the electronic retail company EpiCentre (EpiTsentr).
Residents are warned of potential air pollution.
2/2 There were are no deaths or injuries in the attack on the buildings in Fastiv
Epicentre says "During the full-scale war, dozens of network facilities were destroyed in different regions. According to estimates by independent experts, the total amount of losses exceeds $1bn"
Also this morning, attacks on Sumy and Kharkiv.
At least 3 are injured in Kharkiv after a 'Shahed' drone dive bombed a school/college.
#RussiaIsATerroristState
Also a massive, drone-swarm attack in Sumy region.
Five attack UAVs hit Zarichne, about 20km from the border with Russia.
No early sign of casualties.
Also this morning, Ukraine hit Vladivostok, over 7,000km from Kyiv.
🇺🇦Intel says it's a "revenge operation" against "occupiers who committed war crimes"
In Shchytov village in Primorsky Krai, Russia's 155th brigade was rocked by a powerful explosion with "dead and wounded"
Another blow to Russia's oil industry as Ukraine has managed to strike the Saratov refinery once again.
Explosions and a fire were heard + seen.
The Saratov Refinery specializes in the production of gasoline, diesel fuel & side products.
In 2023 it processed 4.8m tons of oil.
1/3 US Treasury Secretary says he 'guarantees' that "If Europe put substantial secondary tariffs on the buyers of Russian oil, the war would be over in 60 or 90 days."
Scott Bessent reiterated the US will act if Europe acts and also stops importing oil itself.
Sound reasonable?
2/3 Well, yes, but here's the thing.
Most analysts (correctly) point out the US would financially benefit a lot with its own oil exports.
However no-one seems to have considered it could be a carefully manufactured "escape clause" for Trumputin.
The EU needs unanimity to pass
3/3 ..a sanctions bill. Putin's buddies in Hungary + Slovakia can veto any action against Russian oil imports. In which case, no extra tariffs can be imposed.
Trump throws his hands up, saying "I tried", blames the EU, stops all support for Ukraine
Putin, Xi, Orbán, Fico happy
Ukraine claims almost 50 components in Russia's latest jet drone are from overseas.
Half of the 45 identified come from the USA says Kyiv, with 8 Chinese and 7 from Switzerland.
Germany, the UK and Japan also contributed smaller amounts.
More photos from the scene of the fire in southern Kyiv region, where the Epicentre warehouse still burns after Russia's drone attack.
Multiple brigades, agencies and volunteers are helping try to quell the fire, including helicopters dousing the building.

Wednesday. Day 1302 of the illegal war started by Russia.
For all the fact-checked news about Ukraine, analysis not sugar-coated, and honest appraisals of the situation, trust an expert who isn't here for clicks (if I was I'd post lies & gory videos).
Thanks for being #TeamTim
Yesterday an astonishing report from Yale showing Russia forcing kidnapped kids to work in drone factories, how Croatia may have embarrassed the Putin/ Hungary/Slovakia axis.

Day 1300 of Putin's war.
Another 100 days of fighting completed.
We are no nearer peace than we were 100 days ago.
Almost 200 days ago Trump demanded a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
Not surprising as he started it, it's always Putin stopping peace.
Here's Monday's daily🧵
If you were busy over the weekend, click the link to see all Sunday's stories.
It was a day when Ukraine had to quickly repair a main railway line after a massive explosion, but they also managed to make multiple hits on Russia's rail and oil industries
Hello on Day 1298 of Russia's full invasion of its sovereign neighbour. So, only 1295 days late in fulfilling the boast of taking Kyiv in 3 days. #EATP for Putin.
I've compiled a🧵every single day without fail.

Friday saw more important visitors arrive in Kyiv (and another familiar place is in Ukraine today).
There was more solidarity and practical support, while Russia suffered more oil woes.
I'll start in Odesa, because that's where the familiar face has turned up.
He was planning to return to Ukraine a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't make it, but now Boris is back.
Loved by nearly all Ukrainians, his early arrival (with Lord Ashcroft) meant he avoids the crowds.
Day 1297 of Russia's imperialist war, but the senior bully keeps being given a bloody nose by the junior school kid next door. How embarrassing for the "world's second greatest army" and more 'punches' thrown by Ukraine overnight..
There was so much in yesterday's thread.
Russia hitting churches, Ukraine striking a boat.
The US helping Belarus, which helps🇷🇺 & Trump questioning if the drone attack on Poland was a mistake.
Thursday ended with a Ukraine drone surge into Russia:
