The evolution of modern power cliques, that control and corrupt our societies, part 2. The first part, was giving the background, to how we got here. How we reached a stage where these industrial oligarchs, started learning how to control our societies for their own ends.
1/🧵
The narrative I am creating is very different to the contrived narrative we are told via our education system, and media, about how our system came into being, and how it runs. But my narrative is consistent with the evidence, unlike the false narratives, we're fed.
2/
As I was saying in my last thread, industrial oligarchs emerged in the industrial revolution, and the aristocracy allowed this, because they were massively profiting from this system. New freedoms were allowed, because it facilitated this economic growth.
3/
Countries like to claim their democracies have histories going back many hundred years. But the fact is, until there was universal suffrage, where especially women, and other disadvantaged people got the vote, it couldn't really be called democracy.

4/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal…
The history of voting rights is interesting. Take in the UK. Well into the 19th Century only a small minority of property owning men had the vote, and similar situations existed in other countries. Increased voting rights were only allowed incrementally.
5/
The rich and powerful lived with the fear, that if they gave voting rights to the masses, that they would be held accountable for the cruel crimes they had committed against their people. Only when they were assured, increased voting didn't change anything, did they allow it.
6/
This universal suffrage in the biggest Western powers, didn't happen, until well into the 20th Century. As I say, the oligarchs, the billionaires, the big corporations, the other very rich, live in fear of the masses as they are ruthlessly exploiting them like livestock.
7/
The powerful, the oligarchs, know that they must keep their agendas and machinations, secret from the public, who, if they realized how they were being exploited, manipulated and lied to, would turn on the oligarchs, and their goose would have been cooked.
8/
So the very powerful, the richest, the billionaires, the oligarchs, the big corporations, and their political puppets, have had to work out new ways of manipulating the system, to control our societies for their own ends. This has involved lots of trial and error.
9/
The problem is, that at first, they had to be very careful, for fear their machinations, would be discovered, and people turned against them. But they have become emboldened, that people are falling for their representatives, like Trump, and they have got away with it.
10/
Coming back, to who they are. As I say, it is a wheels within wheels clique type thing, where powerful people cooperate with each other, through their social networks, to achieve goals, they have a common interest in, like paying as little tax as possible.
11/
There is no singular they, but they work as a coordinated entities, simply because they are trying to achieve common goals. They are not all on the same wavelength, and they are in competition with each other. As I say, none of them know totally, how it all works.
12/
Nevertheless, various interconnected cliques, are beavering away, to advance their own interests. As they get more successful at it, they learn what strings to pull, and how to get control of things, for their own ends.
13/
Trump and his allies learning how to further control the media, by forcing them to get rid of Trump critics, by threatening to cancel their broadcasting licences, is an example of oligarchs learning how to play the system.
14/
Not long ago, such a brazen action would have created a massive counter-productive backlash. Can you imagine if the Biden regime had tried to control right wing news channels in this way, to end criticism of Biden? The howls of protest from the right about free speech.
15/
However, Trump is pushing the envelope of what he can get away with on so many fronts, and changing the dynamics of what is socially acceptable, that blatant attempts to gerrymander the media and restrict criticism of Trump, is lost in the melee.
16/
Nevertheless, as I say, it is entirely mistaken to see Trump as completely in charge of this. Of course the narcissist control freak that is Trump, wants to make it impossible for anyone to criticise, or especially mock him.
17/
As I say though, Trump is simply the figurehead, of a network, multiple cliques of billionaire oligarchs, and big corporations. They, too, have a vested interest in restricting what anyone can say about them, especially mocking them, or exposing what they are.
18/
This is how these power cliques work, by combining, and supporting actions that suit their agenda. Their control works, by allowing things in their interest, and only pushing back against politicians, when they do something not in their vested interest.
19/
They are essentially using George Orwell's 1984 as a political how to do it manual, not as a warning. They want to learn how to control people's thinking, via control of language, and what people know and don't know.
20/
It is very dangerous that none of them are in control of this, are totally aware of how this works, because from a systems point of view, we are seeing a malignant entity, that is out of control, taking over our societies, like a malignant cancer that is metastasizing.
21/
In other words, the oligarchs and vested interests have little idea of where this is heading and what the long term consequences of their quite stupid meddling is. They are suppressing climate science, to stop it interfering with their profit making.
22/
“There are now no non-radical futures. The choice is between immediate and profound social change or waiting a little longer for chaotic and violent social change. In 2023 the window for this choice is rapidly closing.” @KevinClimate

23/bellacaledonia.org.uk/2023/04/18/no-…
It's going to bounce back to bite MAGA and the oligarchs, when climate impacts, start to hit ordinary people in the West, and they realize that they have been misled by these oligarchs, and there is going to be a real backlash. They will lose everything.
24/
This oligarch system, the industrial capitalist system, likes to pay homage to Ancient Rome, with Roman facades to buildings, with Senators and all the other copying of Rome. But the Roman Empire collapsed, because of their machinations.

This sacking of Jimmy Kimmel via the Trump regime threatening the licence of ABC unless it complies with its demands, is just part of a much bigger picture, of the insidious, creeping corruption of our societies by power cliques. - Pt1

1/🧵theguardian.com/us-news/2025/s…
By power cliques, I mean cliques of powerful individuals and organizations, who cooperate out of common interest, to play the system for their own ends. How this works is very different to how conspiracies are portrayed in fiction.
2/
In fictional conspiracies you see these dark, sinister shadow organizations, sort of like a government, but secret and pulling the levers of government and everything. With a similar hierarchical structure to a government.

I'll briefly explain why I have had to stick my head into the murky sewer of politics. I actually despise politics, and I would not spend one second thinking about it, if it wasn't putting us in such mortal danger.
1/🧵
Both the populist right, and the neoliberal centre are trying to undo what small advances had been made in advancing the cause of climate action, and action on the nature crisis.

It's no use campaigning for climate and biodiversity action, without addressing what's happening.
2/
It is no use campaigning for climate and biodiversity action without addressing the elephant in the room, being ignored, and that is the 2 big political forces in our society today, are actively trying to block the necessary action.

I am sickened by the lying Trumpian right, trying to use the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk, to justify whipping up political violence against what they call the "radical left".

Such hate speech has serious consequences, which I want to illustrate with the Utøya Massacre.
1/🧵
On 22 July 2011, right wing terrorist, Anders Behring Breivik, shot dead 69 young people on the island of Utøya in Norway, attending a socialist summer camp. 33 of them under the age of 18. It remains the deadliest mass shooting ever perpetrated.

2/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Norw…
The POS Breivik, shot these young people dead, purely because they were left wing. We know that Breivik was inspired by right wing commentators, spewing right wing hate speech, because he wrote a manifesto, directly quoting them.

What this illustrates is the need to inform Reform supporters of what Nigel Farage and Reform actually stands for, as regards their main policy.

And who supports and finances Nigel Farage and Reform, because most Reform voters/supporters, don't seem to have a clue.
1/🧵
This is vital as the main demographic reform seems to be aimed at, are the less well off, the old working class. Generally this demographic, is the least well-informed and educated. They don't seem to understand they're backing a party, which represents the richest people.
2/
It really is quite baffling how no one has focused on a mass information programme, to reveal what Reform and it's leadership are really about.

The demographic Reform is targeted at, have been misled by decades of propaganda and disinformation from the right wing press.

I'm extremely worried about the quite bizarre analysis of the Charlie Kirk shooting, by intelligent people who should know better, about the motivation of his killer. As I've said before, this is typical of a lone gun nut, random shooting.

1/🧵threadreaderapp.com/thread/1966813…
I strongly agree with this point. That the main motivating factors were the access to firearms and the proximity of the target.

This was what separates this random shooting, from a targeted assassination.

2/
There is currently no evidence that Tyler Robinson had been following Charlie Kirk to other parts of the country, researching him in depth, or his allies. He seems to have primarily chosen him as a target, simply because he was speaking in his locality.

I want to make some observations about the Keir Starmer calamity, because Labour's problems, giving Reform an open goal they shouldn't have, cannot be fixed with Starmer changing direction or strategy. He has to go. He is fundamentally incompetent, and arrogant.
1/🧵
People keep telling me, the problem is Morgan McSweeney, not Starmer. No, if Starmer is being given bad advice by McSweeney, again and again, and is not learning from the experience, this is a Starmer problem, and not a McSweeney problem.
2/
This is not that can be fixed, by getting rid of McSweeney, because if you have a leader who fails to grasp he is being given bad advice, from experience, again and again, it can't be fixed with different advisers. An adviser's job is to advise, not to control.
