🧵The Scottish Gov’s new transgender pupil guidance (Sep 2025) has been published , but it’s flawed
It still promotes gender ideology
It still defies the law
Ignores evidence
Risks child welfare
Ignores Safeguarding
Here’s why it remains a problem.gov.scot/publications/s…
The Guidance does refer to UK Supreme Court (sex = bio sex) but it still lets children and young people self-ID as the opposite "gender" It lets boys use girls’ spaces like changing rooms etc. This violates the Equality Act & girls’ rights to dignity privacy & safety.
There is no evidence for “Transgender" children and young people The guidance assumes they can be “trans” it ignores evidence from the Cass Review which says gender distress in children & young people is often linked to autism trauma etc Labelling children and young people as “trans” risks locking them into a path to medical harm
It still pushes social transition it encourages name/pronoun changes as young as primary school. Cass warned this can cement identity children may outgrow, raising distress & medicalisation risks. Guidance ignores this, still using biased stories like "I Am Jazz" as reference points
It continues to undermine parents It says it involves parents but lets children and young people block info-sharing This pits schools against families, risks labelling parents & could lead to child protection overreach but ultimately it encourages the lack of a safeguarding approach
It creates frees speech & safeguarding risks. It allows staff to hide a child’s sex to avoid “outing.” This clashes with safeguarding & Equality Act transparency. This creates a culture of lies in schools and the wider community and requires everyone to comply. Failure to maintain the lie could lead to sanctions for children parents & teachers
It still relies on biased Sources It relies on groups like Mermaids & LGBT Youth Scotland, with histories of safeguarding issues. It still uses biased stories like I Am Jazz as reference points Ignores Cass’s call for evidence-based approaches. It continues to promote an ideology
This Guidance continues to push unproven affirmation over law, evidence, & children & young people's well-being. It continues to promote confusion, & harm. The guidance should be withdrawn it is not fit for purpose

A 🧵
In light of recent negative coverage of Scotland’s public sector DEI policies, one would think it might be rethinking its stance. Far from it - and @NHSHighland is not the only one doubling down; Cairngorms National Park Authority @cairngormsnews appears to be vying with them for the prize for the most unlawful policies.
CNPA’s Board meets tomorrow to ‘note’ its Public Sector Equality Duty Report shorturl.at/2tv9n, which has some great content, but it links to the organisation’s 16 page ‘Gender Diversity Policy’ shorturl.at/Y5FsT
We assume that this policy was created as part of achieving LGBTYS’ ‘LGBT Charter’ Foundation level. Much of it is total nonsense, but some parts are more serious, i.e. misrepresenting the EA2010, allowing self ID, allowing men to use the female toilets and facilities (obviously never heard of the 1992 Workplace Regulations).
It insists that ‘managers are responsible for applying the policy and ensuring that it is followed’ and that ‘HR is responsible for 'promoting the policy's use with training and guidance and ensuring that appropriate action is taken when the policy is not followed'.
Extremely worrying is that employees could be sanctioned for refusing to use an individual’s chosen pronouns, joking about ‘someone’s gender identity, or transgender people generally’ or ‘Expressing beliefs (e.g. religious, gender ideology or gender critical beliefs) in a fashion
that may be reasonably perceived by others as being offensive and disrespectful’.
The meeting will be streamed on @cairngormsnews youTube from 10am tomorrow, if anyone wishes to see how the Board responds to this policy. If you would like to let the Board know what you think, they are listed here shorturl.at/eElSr

We welcome the final report of the Cass Review and are pleased that children and young people in England will be protected to a large extent from the dangers of gender ideology & gender affirming care cass.independent-review.uk/home/publicati…
The CASS Review is very clear that children should not be rushed onto a medical pathway & a holistic evidence based approach to their needs including mental health needs is required Children who think they are trans have a range of issues which affects their mental health
A thread🧵
In August 21 our member @MaryHowden before she joined WRN SCOTLAND coordinated a letter signed by 310 people to complain about the CEO Mridul Whadwa The letter was sent to the Chief Executive of Rape Crisis Sandy Brindley & the Trustees of Edinburgh Rape crisis Centre
🧵Reflection on #ElectHer event @ScotParl yesterday. The principles around supporting women into politics are great We support that 💯% we need more women in parliament. But ElectHer isn't just focusing on women it also includes men who identify as women
There were men there yesterday using our words, our toilets, feeding back in groups for us, promoted in videos & using resources that should only be for women
Many women who hold gender critical beliefs which are enshrined in law (Forstater) and worthy of respect in a democratic society were ignored through out the event Women were expected to accept these men as women and nothing was said about it
