Most businesses post to Google once a month.

Then wonder why they don't rank.

Google Posts are a ranking factor in 2025 - here's how to use them right: ๐Ÿงต Image
1/ The Mistake:

You post:

- Once a month
- Generic promotional content
- No engagement
- No strategy

Your competitor posts:

- 3x per week
- Helpful, specific content
- Optimized with keywords
- Linked to landing pages

Guess who ranks higher?
2/ The Posting Frequency Rule:

Minimum: 2x per week
Optimal: 3x per week

Maximum: 5x per week

Why? Google Posts expire after 7 days.

If you post less than 2x/week, you have gaps where NO posts show.

Gaps = missed ranking opportunities.
3/ The 4 Post Types That Work:

1. WHAT'S NEW: Announce services/offers
2. EVENT: Local events you're hosting/attending
3. OFFER: Special promotions with end dates
4. UPDATE: Tips, guides, how-tos

Mix them up. Never do the same type 2x in a row.
4/ The Content Formula:

Every post needs:

โœ… Primary keyword in first sentence
โœ… Clear call-to-action
โœ… Button (Call, Book, Learn More, etc)
โœ… Engaging image (not stock photos)
โœ… 100-300 words (sweet spot: 150)
โœ… Link to specific landing page
5/ What to Post About:

Monday: Tip/how-to related to your service
Wednesday: Customer success story/review
Friday: Weekend special or promotion

Or:

Tuesday: FAQ answer
Thursday: Local event/community involvement
Saturday: Behind-the-scenes/team spotlight

Consistency > perfection.
6/ The Engagement Hack:

Google tracks:

- Post views
- Button clicks
- Link clicks
- Photo views

Higher engagement = better rankings.

How to boost engagement:
โœ… Eye-catching images
โœ… Clear benefit in headline
โœ… Strong CTA
โœ… Time-sensitive offers
โœ… Local references
7/ Your Action Plan:

Week 1: Create 12 post ideas (content calendar)
Week 2: Write 12 posts in advance
Week 3: Schedule posts 2-3x per week
Week 4: Track performance in GMB insights

Then rinse and repeat.

Google Posts aren't optional in 2025.

They're a direct ranking factor.

Post consistently or get left behind.

$1.3M gone in 6 months.

All because of fake Google reviews.

Here's how a Houston restaurant owner almost lost everything (and the exact playbook that saved his business): ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

(Client details under NDA - sharing the framework) Image
1/ The Setup:

Popular Tex-Mex restaurant in Houston's Montrose district.

Revenue steady at $80K/month until a competitor hired a black-hat agency to sabotage them.

Within weeks, 50+ fake 1-star reviews appeared.

Rating dropped from 4.7 to 2.9 stars.
2/ The immediate impact was devastating:

๐Ÿ“‰ Foot traffic down 20%
๐Ÿ“‰ Online orders cut in half
๐Ÿ“‰ Monthly revenue: $80K โ†’ $32K
๐Ÿ“‰ Had to reduce staff from 22 to 9

Competitors were literally buying their customers away with fake reviews.

$100K/year saved.

Just by fixing how Google crawls the site.

Most sites waste 60-80% of their crawl budget on useless pages.

Here's the complete crawl budget optimization playbook: ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

(Got reminded to write this after a discovery call today with a crypto site: 500K pages, 1.5M not indexed. 10+ year old domain. Wild.)
1/ What is Crawl Budget?

Google allocates a limited number of pages it will crawl on your site per day.

Small sites: Not an issue
Large sites (10,000+ pages): HUGE issue

If Google wastes crawl budget on junk pages, it doesn't crawl your money pages.

No crawl = No index = No rankings = No revenue.
2/ The Problem We Found:

Ecommerce site with 50,000 pages.

Google crawling:

- 18,000 duplicate pages with no canonical tags (useless)
- 8,000 out-of-stock product pages (dead)
- 5,000 duplicate URLs with parameters
- 3,000 low-value filter pages
- 2,000 pages with 404
- Only 16,000 valuable pages getting crawled

64% crawl budget WASTED.

I analyzed 100 Google Business Profiles to find what ACTUALLY impacts rankings in 2025.

Forget the BS advice from 2019.

Here are the 47 factors that matter NOW (ranked by impact): ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
1/ TIER 1: Critical Factors (Do These First)

1. Primary category accuracy
2. Business name matches legal name
3. Complete address with suite/unit
4. Local phone number (not toll-free)
5. Consistent NAP across web
6. Hours accuracy (including holidays)
7. Service area definition

Get these wrong = you lose. Period.
2/ TIER 2: Review Signals (20% of ranking power)

1. Total review count (velocity matters)
2. Average rating (aim for 4.5+)
3. Review recency (fresh reviews win)
4. Review response rate (respond to ALL)
5. Review keyword diversity
6. Review authenticity signals
7. Star distribution pattern
8. Review length/detail

50+ local citations in 30 days.

No agencies. No expensive tools.

Just a proven system that builds local authority FAST.

Here's the exact 30-day plan I give to every new client: ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
1/ Why Citations Matter in 2025:

Citations = trust signals to Google

Each listing tells Google:

โœ“ Your business is real
โœ“ Your location is verified
โœ“ Others vouch for you

50+ consistent citations = top 3 local pack

Less than 20 = you're invisible
2/ WEEK 1: The Free Foundation (Days 1-7)

Target: 20 citations

Hit these first (in order):

1. Google Business Profile โญ
2. Bing Places
3. Apple Maps
4. Yelp
5. Facebook Business
6. BBB
7. Yellow Pages
8. Superpages
9. Citysearch
10. MapQuest

All free. All essential.

Changing URLs from /blog/2024/03/post-title to /post-title increased traffic 44%.

No new content. No backlinks. Just shorter URLs.

Yet 40% of sites still use categories, dates, and author URLs like it's 2008.

The great URL simplification that nobody's brave enough to do:
2/ The data that should terrify you:

Analyzed 50,000 ranking pages:

- URLs with 1-2 folders: Average position 8
- URLs with 3-4 folders: Average position 14
- URLs with 5+ folders: Average position 27

Every folder is a ranking weight.
Your URL structure is drowning your content.
3/ Real migration I just completed:

Blog with 1,200 posts:

Old: website. com/blog/category/2023/08/author/keyword-rich-post-title
New: website. com/keyword-rich-post-title

Traffic impact:
Month 1: +12%
Month 2: +31%
Month 3: +44%

Same content. Shorter path.

We audited an accounting software site with 3,000+ pages doing 10K monthly traffic.

Deleted 2,000 pages.

13 months later: 340K monthly traffic.

They were competing against themselves for "invoice template" and losing.
We forced Google to pick winners.

The keyword cannibalization epidemic is killing your rankings. Here's how to fix it:Image
2/ What we found in the audit:

- 20+ variations of "invoice template" pages
- 15+ "how to make an invoice" articles
- 40+ duplicate templates with tiny differences
- 200+ thin pages targeting "[industry] invoice"
- 50+ location-based invoice pages saying nothing unique

Google was paralyzed.
10K traffic for 3,000 pages = 3 visits per page.
3/ The cannibalization death spiral in action:

They had:

- "Invoice template"
- "Free invoice template"
- "Simple invoice template"
- "Professional invoice template"
- "Business invoice template"
- "Invoice template Word"
- "Invoice template Excel"

Plus 193 more variations.
All ranking position 25-60.
Zero on page 1.
