We have an urgent call to action for Victorians.

David Davis has introduced the Safer Protest with a Registration System and a Ban on Face Coverings Bill 2025

1/
This bill in relation to Face Coverings at Public Protests states:

• A person participating in a public protest must not wear a face covering other than for religious purposes.

• Penalty: 30 penalty units (approx. $6000) or imprisonment for 3 months.

2/
• A police officer may direct a person participating in a public protest who is wearing a face covering other than for religious purposes to remove the covering while participating in the public protest.

3/
If this were to pass, this would make protest in Victoria unsafe for everyone, but particularly for the most vulnerable of us.

This bill is at the second reading and debate is due to resume on Tuesday 14th of October, before a vote.

4/
We urge you to call your Victorian Legislative Council member Monday or email immediately, to raise your concerns, to push back on the Bill or at very least to ask for exemptions to face coverings for health reasons.

5/
Schedule for October 14th:

The reason that Don couldn't run this weekend is because our billboard artwork was rejected as they require "any medical advice in advertising to come from a medical or government organisation". So let's take a look at that... 1/16 #GetBoosted Image
The Federal government's advice, which inspired the wording we chose for the board () 2/16 #GetBoosted immunisationhandbook.health.gov.au/contents/vacci…

The Victorian Department of Health advice, note the words "as soon as possible" which inspired our use of the words "as soon as he is eligible". Note also the 7.7K views on that post. 3/16 #GetBoosted

Queensland Chief Health Officer, Dr John Gerrard, has co-authored an observational study on Long Covid which purports to find that people are no more likely to have ongoing symptoms after COVID than after the flu. Is it true? Let's look at the facts...🧵
The author's 2023 study selected 19,758 people who had tested positive via PCR for either COVID or Flu during the period 12-25 June 2022. About 1/3 of them couldn't be contacted via text message, leaving 12,932, of which 26% consented, giving a sample size of 3,420. Figure 1 from the 2023 study published in the BMJ (Matthew Brown, John Gerrard, Lynne McKinlay, John Marquess, Teneika Sparrow, Ross Andrews - Ongoing symptoms and functional impairment 12 weeks after testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 or influenza in Australia: an observational cohort study: BMJ Public Health 2023;1:e000060.)
They then excluded another 8-9% from both cohorts with 'unrelated symptoms'. Long Covid has been associated with over 200 symptoms, and they left it up to the participants to self-report if their new condition was related. Were these truly unrelated symptoms?
