It’s fascinating, and infuriating, how Gavin Newsom, Barack Obama, and national Democrats are gaslighting their own voters over Prop 50.

California Democrats overwhelmingly support our independent redistricting commission. So why is Gavin trying to kill it?

👇🧵👇Let me explain
2/ Simple: Gavin wants power.

Prop 50 isn’t about protecting democracy. It’s about launching his presidential campaign and handing California’s maps back to the same Sacramento insiders voters kicked out a decade ago.

#VoteNoOnProp50
3/ Their plan has 3 parts.

Step 1: Lie to Democrats by blaming President Trump.

They say Prop 50 is response to Trump destroying democracy.

That’s pure gaslighting, playing upon Democrats suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
4/ Here’s the truth:

Texas fixed unconstitutional racial gerrymanders. They followed the law.

That has nothing to do with California’s independent maps.

Gavin is exploiting anti-Trump emotion to trick voters into abandoning their own principles.
5/ Step 2: Lie that Prop 50 is temporary.

It’s not. California’s Constitution allows redistricting only after the census, a referendum, or a court order.

Prop 50 creates a fourth way, any time special interests want more seats, they can buy a new map.
6/ That means:

💰 Dump millions into Sacramento.
🗺️ Politicians redraw maps to protect their donors.
🧢 Run a deceptive campaign to override the citizen maps.

Who loses? The voters of California. Who wins? partisan special-interests.
7/ Step 3: Pretend the people are deciding.

But California is a republic, not a pure democracy.
Even majority rule must obey the Constitution.
And Prop 50 maps used race as a predominant factor, exactly what the Constitution forbids.

A popular vote doesn’t make an illegal map legal.
8/ So why the gaslighting?

Because national Democrats are panicking. Their radical policies are losing voters. Without gerrymanders, they risk becoming a coastal party of elites with no national base.
9/ They see what’s coming:

⚖️ The Supreme Court could soon end racial gerrymanders (affirmative action for politicians).
📉 2020 census errors gave Democrats ~6 seats, they’ll lose those.
🚚 Voters are fleeing blue states, more seats gone.
📋 A citizenship question in 2030 could cost them even more.
10/ National Democrats know that the Congress elected in 2026 will decide if that citizenship question appears.

To stop it, they need control of Congress, and Prop 50 is their Trojan horse.

This is about special interest power, not California fairness.
11/ So yes, Gavin Newsom and the D.C. machine are gaslighting California Democrats into destroying the one reform they actually love.

Don’t fall for it.

🚨 BREAKING: For months, we've demanded: Who paid to draw California's sneaky new Prop 50 maps?

Answer: Nancy Pelosi & Congressional Democrats. 🧵

#NoOnProp50 Image
2/ This should shock NO ONE. Back in 2010, Pelosi & her crew were the first to bankroll the effort to kill the independent redistricting commission. History repeats.

They hated losing control. Incumbents gonna incumbent.

3/ Fast-forward to 2025: Prop 50 claims it's just a "temporary" fix. But Pelosi's DCCC submitted the pro-Dem lines—drawn by her go-to guy, Paul Mitchell of Redistricting Partners. Image

Many believe Gavin Newsom's Prop 50 complies with the Constitution because it allows a public vote. This is a dangerous misunderstanding.

We live in a constitutional republic, not a pure democracy. #NoOn50 Image
In a republic, the Constitution limits government power, regardless of majority votes. The Bill of Rights and amendments like the 14th and 15th protect individual and minority rights against majority tyranny. Image
Prop 50 is presented as the people's will, but Gavin's plan uses majority votes to override minority rights. A 51% agreement doesn't ensure it's right or constitutional. Image

I am tired of hearing that CA is redistricting to combat President Trump and TX redistricting efforts. Texas was forced to redistrict because the Biden DOJ sued Galveston County and lost which changed the law thus making 4 TX Congressional Districts unconstitutional. 🧵
2. When Texas drew its congressional districts in 2021, they created 4 congressional districts where they combined two minority communities to create a minority-majority district (Coalition minority districts). (Example, Congressional District 18). Image
3. On March 24, 2022, The Biden DOJ sued Galveston County Commissioners because Galveston did not draw a coalition minority district for the Black and Latino population. Image

I have to give Newsom credit, he really has some creative looking gavinmanders. If you live in California, make sure you vote no on Proposition 50. 🧵

Just filed a lawsuit asking the California Supreme Court to stop the special election currently scheduled for November 4th because the California legislature and Gavin Newsom violated the California Constitution in putting this ballot imitative on the ballot. 🧵 Image
2/8 We argue that there is plenty of California Supreme Court precedent where the Court has removed unconstitutional ballot initiatives because "Voter consent cannot convert an unconstitutional [statute] into a constitutional one."
3/8 This redistricting ballot initiative is unconstitutional because it asks voters to vote on two separate issues.

1⃣ Voters are asked to encourage Congress to pass a U.S. Constitutional Amendment to require all states to have nonpartisan redistricting commissions for Congress.
2⃣ Voters are also asked to support the California's legislature's new maps that disregard the hard work of the citizen commission.

There are many voters in California who want to vote yes to the first question and no to the second question but they will not be allowed to split their vote.

This ballot initiative violates the single subject rule.

California's Constitution mandates that Congressional districts "shall be drawn to encourage geographical compactness such that nearby areas of population are not bypassed for more distant population."
