Many believe Gavin Newsom's Prop 50 complies with the Constitution because it allows a public vote. This is a dangerous misunderstanding.

We live in a constitutional republic, not a pure democracy. #NoOn50 In a republic, the Constitution limits government power, regardless of majority votes. The Bill of Rights and amendments like the 14th and 15th protect individual and minority rights against majority tyranny.

I am tired of hearing that CA is redistricting to combat President Trump and TX redistricting efforts. Texas was forced to redistrict because the Biden DOJ sued Galveston County and lost which changed the law thus making 4 TX Congressional Districts unconstitutional. 🧵 2. When Texas drew its congressional districts in 2021, they created 4 congressional districts where they combined two minority communities to create a minority-majority district (Coalition minority districts). (Example, Congressional District 18).

I have to give Newsom credit, he really has some creative looking gavinmanders. If you live in California, make sure you vote no on Proposition 50. 🧵

Just filed a lawsuit asking the California Supreme Court to stop the special election currently scheduled for November 4th because the California legislature and Gavin Newsom violated the California Constitution in putting this ballot imitative on the ballot. 🧵 2/8 We argue that there is plenty of California Supreme Court precedent where the Court has removed unconstitutional ballot initiatives because "Voter consent cannot convert an unconstitutional [statute] into a constitutional one."

California's Constitution mandates that Congressional districts "shall be drawn to encourage geographical compactness such that nearby areas of population are not bypassed for more distant population."

Los Angeles Superior Court allows COVID-19 case against the government to continue.

The court refuses to dismiss Tinhorn Flat’s case that Burbank targeted it because it expressed its opposition to Newsom’s shutdown orders. This is the third California court in a week that has ruled in favor of We The People and against the government.
