What I was trying to do with this thread, is to illustrate, how all those who deny the existential threat to our civilization, from the climate and ecological crisis, are in some form of ideologically motivated denial.
1/🧵
As I point out, ALL, not some, who attack environmentalists and climate activists as alarmists, because there is no scientific evidence, for the threat to our civilization by the climate crisis, are being intellectually dishonest.
2/
There's no scientific evidence, for the very obvious reason, that there has never been any scientific study of the risk of civilian collapse, being induced by climate and ecological impacts. If critics of this were honest, they would acknowledge this.

3/pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
I have been blocked at least 4-5 times, by the climate scientist, Dr Michael Mann, and others of his ilk, for simply pointing out, that he is not taking into account, impacts from biodiversity collapse. I have clear evidence he has done this, for this reason.
4/
Such people, are for ideological reasons, in total denial of the threats from the climate and ecological crisis. They will make intellectually dishonest statements, claiming there is no scientific evidence for this, whilst refusing to acknowledge why this is.
5/
The very clear reason for the lack of scientific evidence, for the threat of civilization collapse, is that this has never been the subject of any scientific study, to see if this was a possibility.

This itself, should be a huge worry, that there is no research.
6/
The very obvious reason for the lack of scientific research into whether the economic growth, capitalist economic model, is an existential threat to our civilization, is because of a quasi-religious belief in economic growth and capitalism.
7/
In other words, those who believe in economic growth and capitalism, for ideological reasons, refuse to consider the possible implications of this, because of their ideology. Those who have this position, accuse those like me, of ideological bias.
8/
However, as I am tired of pointing out, I am not ideologically motivated, because I reject the very idea of ideology i.e. a set of beliefs, about how society should be, and that claims to already know all the answers.
9/
My argument, is simply that it is impossible to know all the problems and solutions, without further research and evaluation, and therefore, all ideologies are fraudulent, in claiming to have knowledge, that they clearly lack.
10/
My very reasonable and rational approach to this matter, is to say, okay, if you insist that economic growth and capitalism, is not an existential threat to our civilization, then at the very least, let us research and investigate this.
11/
The fact, that this has never been the subject of any serious scientific research, ever, says that those who run our societies, and have all the power and wealth, are quasi-religious fanatics, who refuse to let their article of faith, be examined in a rational way.
12/
Remember, we are not talking of a question, such as whether there is a god, and what are their intentions and plans, which for reasons I won't go into here, can't be tested. That we can easily test the long term viability of economic growth and capitalism.
13/
All we have to do, to test out the long term viability, sustainability of economic growth/capitalism, is to examine the trends this economic has put us on, then to play this out with modelling, to model what the long term impacts are, of pursuing this economic model.
14/
As I keep pointing out, less than 20% of the global population, currently engage in the high consumption lifestyles, that proponents of economic growth and capitalism, claim to want, the whole of society, to benefit from.
15/
Therefore, you simply model, what would happen if the 80% of the global population currently not engaging in this high level of consumption, that the less than 20% of the population, mainly in rich countries, engage in.
16/
The only obvious reason, for failing to research and investigate this, are that those who believe in perpetual economic growth and capitalism, really know very well, that their primary ideological belief, an article of faith, is seriously flawed, and physically impossible.
17/
That the main motivation for refusing to research and investigate the long term consequences of these unsustainable lifestyles, are because they themselves participate in these high consumption lifestyles, and they don't want to contemplate giving them up, and changing them.
18/
It's highly irrational, and morally bankrupt. That a minority, engaging in an unsustainable lifestyle, because of personal greed, don't want to look at the long term consequences of their lifestyles, for the whole of humanity, because of vested interest, and personal greed.
19/
Why for the whole of my life, have I and others like me, have had to be the little boys and girls, that stand up and say, excuse me, but the Emperor is naked. Your illusion/delusion that they are wearing a fine set of clothes, is clearly a false belief. It is that simple.
20/
I am fairly certain, that once again, those with these irrational beliefs, will refuse to address the clear inconsistencies in their beliefs. The reason I have to restrict responses to my threads, is instead of addressing my points, I will be personally attacked.
21/
The usual response to my arguments for 50 years years, has been to personally attack me, using the ad hominem logical fallacy, rather than to address the clear inconsistencies, in the prevailing paradigms of our modern culture.
22/
The reason for this becomes very clear when I try to debate this with people. They have got no cogent arguments, to address the clear inconsistencies, in their beliefs, therefore, personal attack, is the only option.

I want to write a few threads about civilization collapse, and the danger of it, because so few to any understand it. Although it will probably be a waste of time, because I seemed to be having my threads hidden. But I just want to get it down.
1/🧵
I'm not a doom-monger, saying civilization is going to happen come what may. All my commenting is to stop that happening, because it is entirely possible to avoid this, if, and only if we massively change our system, and start cooperating, and stop competing.
2/
It's like this, there are many patterns of life, bad habits, ignoring illness, which will lead to your death, if you carry on as you are, and ignore the consequences of this. Our societies are ignoring existential threats to our civilization, as if they don't exist.

"Peter Thiel, the billionaire political svengali and tech investor, is worried about the antichrist. It could be the US. It could be Greta Thunberg."

If anyone closely resembles the anti-christ, it's Peter Thiel, Donald Trump and JD Vance.

1/🧵theguardian.com/us-news/2025/o…
Just to make it clear, that I am not religious. But I have read most of the Bible when I was younger, and self-evidently Trump hasn't.

Enough to know that the Jesus described was quite the woke commie.

Once again, Twitter/X, seems to be hiding my own posts from me. I was trying to explained the messed up nature of our modern society. We need to understand another systems theory, property, and that is emergent properties.
1/🧵
An emergent property, is where out of a set of parameters of a system, a whole new property emerges, that can't simplistically be understood, from the parts of the system it emerged from. It develops a life of its own.

2/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergence
This has what has happened to our societies. For instance, Donald Trump, delusionally believes, that not only is he in charge of America, but he's in charge of the world. But Trump's dumb machinations, are creating global chaos, which will gobble him up, along with the US.

Trump is not some sort of hero, deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize, for this so-called peace deal. Trump is personally responsible for all the tens of thousands Palestinian deaths since he has been in office, as Biden before him.
1/🧵
Both Biden and Trump could have immediately stopped the genocidal massacre of Palestinian civilians, and their starvation, by simply threatening to cut off US military and other aid, as Trump did with Ukraine.
2/
In fact, it this difference between Trump's attitude to Israel and Ukraine, that nullifies his claim to be a peacemaker. Sure, Trump has had to reverse his attitude to Ukraine, after it became apparent, that Putin was the obstacle.

I made this comment in response to @ZackPolanski comment, about being attacked by the right. I will place it as a free standing thread. It is about why an agenda of radical change, is the only realistic way forward, and why.
1/🧵
“There are now no non-radical futures. The choice is between immediate and profound social change or waiting a little longer for chaotic and violent social change. In 2023 the window for this choice is rapidly closing.”
@KevinClimate

2/bellacaledonia.org.uk/2023/04/18/no-…
What the right cannot get through their thick heads, is that radical change is coming whether you like it or not. The climate and ecological crisis is going to radically alter our societies, ESPECIALLY, if we try to carry on with business as usual BaU.

I want to commend @ZackPolanski for finally saying things in public, in a strong and forthright way, that appeals to everyone. Progressives, without a platform, have been saying these things for years, but never have they been effectively articulated publicly.
1/🧵
Yes, other politicians, have said enlightened things, and I acknowledge them. But none have shaken up the discourse, like @ZackPolanski has. We need far more people to pick up the baton, and start saying these things, in a clear and effective way, to speak with one voice.
2/
We need to create a mass movement for change. This can only be effective, if we speak with one voice, and to put aside any factional bickering. To stop our societies being taken over by the lies of the populist right, we need to come together and fight.
