Total calories per day has increased only 17% from 1909 to 2010, from 3400 to 4000
In 1909 the typical carbs/protein/fat percentages were 58% / 12% / 31% respectively
In 2010 the percentages were 46% / 12% / 42%.
In other words we eat less carbs, more fat and about the same amount of protein (percentage wise)
Saturated fat % has gone from 42% of total fats in 1909 to 31% in 2010
PUFA consumption more than doubled, from 11% in 1909 to 23% in 2010
In terms of actual grams PUFA consumption has more than tripled, going from 13 grams/day in 1909 to 44 grams/day in 2010
It's interesting that you can see both the Great Depression and WWII in the data
Both consumption and most total nutrition across the board increased in 1975
Folate increased sharply in 1998 when the FDA mandated it in grain products to prevent NTDs in newborns
Dietary fiber is one of the only things that's gone down in the past 100 years

In 1909, the body fat percentage of men was approximately 21%, and 31% for women.
In 2010, the body fat percentage of men was approximately 29%, and 42% for women.
For men that represents a 38% increase in body fat percentage, and a 35% increase for women. In my opinion that's hard to explain with only a 17% increase in total calories

This guy says a lot of things that are wrong, or irrelevant, but it's telling that we've reached a cultural moment where they have to actually engage in our arguments.
He starts off by talking about this meme, and I agree with him that it is pretty accurate.
He says that Nazis are altruists who hate individualism and materialism. This is... fine I guess, barely serviceable, but the individualist/collectivist dichotomy is really stupid and doesn't get to the heart of how and why civilizations function.
