NOTE from me
The Democratic veterans in Congress who call out the service members to disobey orders will not be penalized for free speech.
The service members who disobey orders will face consequences and penalties.
That is the difference.

Grok
What powers does the President have as "Commander in Chief" over the military?
This grants the President supreme command authority to direct military operations, strategy, and deployment.
In the military, what are the penalties for disobeying orders?
Maximum court-martial punishments below 🔽

Grok 3/3 Can you explain "unlawful orders"?
"any directive that requires the recipient to violate U.S. federal law, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC), or established rules/regulations"
Politics and opinions are not grounds for disobeying orders.
Unlawful orders described above ⬆️ looks complicated.
My opinions.
Disobeying orders when obviously unlawful and have consequences that cannot be fixed. I.E. shoot a person the commander does not like because commander orders it.
Most anything else can be discussed with the commander in private. As long as carrying out the order does not have irreversibly consequences. The boss appreciates not making a public scene.

Democrats intentionally redacted the name of the "victim" in the Epstein emails they released.
The unreacted version shows that it was Virginia Guiffre.
@CynicalPublius Yes, Google is misinterpreting the rules
“. . . information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified."
This quote was fed into google.

I fed in the longer, complete quote
“. . . information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released by any military member, DoW civilian employee or contract employee, even if it is unclassified.”
- still misinterpreted

@CynicalPublius I believe that Google interprets this from an authoritative perspective. The authority is the mainstream press.
The press is using Google, and Google is parroting their thinking in answer.
