#semyouka #kyomiu semiu x kyouka, kyouka x semiu ft. #enzan

Kyouka always hated his face. If she wasn't bound by her dignity, she wouldn't hesitate to punch that ugly face as hard as he could. So many men had met their unfortunate fate that way, being punched in the face, in the
guts, in the ass; and Kyouka was sure this guy shouldn't be an exception.
Except, he did now.
And Kyouka put it upon herself.
"Sooo," the long drawl of the word made her glare even sharper, but the warning and the threat did work as much as she hoped for. "You and Semiu, huh?"
She looked away, which apparently was the wrong thing to do, because her gaze collided with her brother's eyes.
Kyouka didn't know whether to be thankful that it wasn't Goka and just Zanka, or to be horrified that the blue eyes of his baby brother reflected something that Kyouka
herself would hate to name.
"Enjin, cut it off," Semiu interrupted, leaning in as if she half-threatened the man who couldn't stop grinning. Kyouka considered whether it was worth it to wipe that annoying grin with her fist, but again, she had dignity to maintain.
Enjin seemed to
know the route of her thought, because he leaned back, lifting his hand in defeat.
"Just confirming," he shrugged, before his arm sneaked around Zanka's shoulder, pulling it closer. "Remind me again, Zanzan, what's the rule of a Nijiku fraternizing with Cleaners?"
Kyouka clenched her jaws. She looked into Zanka's eyes, hoping she could get a bit, if not a speck of his mercy. Zanka remained impassive. For the first time, Zanka didn't seem to waver under her gaze and Kyouka didn't know whether she should be proud or afraid.
Kyouka watched,
as her brother made the decision.
"Banishment from the family," Zanka repeated, in a perfect impression of Kyouka's voice. Kyouka remembered, because how could she not. That day, she had to accept her baby brother was a lost cause, and there was no better punishment that letting
him go. Kyouka had to. Zanka had betrayed the Nijiku family. Thai was better than the other available options.
"Oh yeah, I remember." Enjin nodded, one hand curling up around Zanka's shoulder, the other propped his chin, as if he was thinking. "So, does it mean, Goka wouldn't
have any siblings left, after this?"
Kyouka gritted her teeth. This bastard, enjoyed himself in taunting her, mocking her; and Kyouka didn't have anything to flip the situation, to defend herself.
Defend herself, Kyouka stunned. Zanka didn't defend himself, that day.
He just accepted his fate in silence and left, never once looking back. And here Kyouka thought, she could justify her doing, while Zanka didn't even bother to?
"I think, it'd be harder for you to be banished, huh?" Enjin tapped his chin. "Would you get impeached or something?"
"Enjin." Semiu interrupted again.
Enjin waved his hand, unapologetically. "Just thinking, it's so easy for you to kick Zanka out of Nijiku's household, I wonder if it's the same for you."
Kyouka tried to appear calm and collected, but it was hard when everything Enjin had said
hit her in the right places. Kyouka didn't just betray her family, she had done the worst thing by doing exactly what Zanka did that granted his punishment.
Zanka didn't say anything, he just stared. Again, with that impressive poker-face, that Kyouka wondered if Enjin taught
him that or if he learned it by himself, because that blond bastard couldn't even tamper his excitement the moment she and Semiu sat across them.
"It isn't like we're exclusive," Semiu provided, pinching the bridge of her nose, as if she prevented the glasses from sliding down.
"So, one can argue, it's different for you and Zanka—"
Enjin cut her words by barking a laugh, so hard he threw his head back on the couch.
"You're screwing each other in the closet, but somehow I'm worse for treating Zanka nicely and taking him out for dinner date?"
Kyouka caught a flicker of emotions passed on Zanka's face.
"I didn't say—" Semiu deflected, Kyouka put a hand on hers, stopping whatever words Semiu had meant to say.
"Your sister is unbelievable," Enjin turned to Zanka, shaking his head. "Nijiku family is such a joke."
Zanka didn't respond.
Kyouka inhaled.
Well, it was long overdue. She should have said something when she had the chance. Maybe this was her karma, for criminalizing her own brother, for so easily stripping out the Nijiku of his name.
For betraying him, in the first place.
"Zanka," she started but genuinely didn't know what else to follow. Asking for forgiveness seemed redundant, showing her regrets seemed insignificant.
Zanka reached for Enjin's hand on his shoulder, taking over the decision completely.
"I wonder, Nee-san, what would Goka think?"

The first thing that crossed Kyouka's mind was, of course, a curse.
She had just turned into someone she hated the most. Someone who got entangled with the crowd she had sworn to avoid, unless it was dangerously necessary.
Hell Guard doesn't get along well with Cleaners, and there were obvious reasons for it.
They weren't compatible to be partners; they had very different versions of morale, of what's right and wrong, what's good and bad.
There were reasons why Kyouka resented Zanka for joining the
Cleaners, because it was an act of betrayal to the Nijiku family, a clan who was well-known to be Hell Guards for centuries. And yet, their youngest turned his back on them, choosing the other sides.
Kyouka learned to accept Zanka's choice; she still struggled, most times she

Zanka couldn't help himself from smiling. How could he, if it was his automatic response whenever Enjin was present? Even if the said person had been laying there, as dead as the log.
Zanka was glad, he didn't have anyone around him right now. Because if anyone Image
was with him at this exact time, they would definitely see how endearing Enjin was.
He had heard it. Whispers and speculations, but he wouldn't want to hope. Until finally a confirmation, coming from the person who's the least likely to lie.
And the least likely to keep his mouth
shut, too.
"Yeah, Riyo told me, he's coming to your room almost every night," Rudo casually said. "Enjin worries about you a lot, he could barely sleep."
Zanka did his best to appear normal.
"Does he, now?"
Rudo nodded. "He kept yawning, these day. I'm surprised he could keep

If Zanka could, he wouldn't want to open his eyes. He would rather have them close.
If Zanka could, he wouldn't want the morning to come. He would rather have the night on and on.
If Zanka could, he wouldn't want to wake up. He would rather have the sleep to hold Image
him hostage, for once and for all.
If Zanka could, he wouldn't want to leave his bed. He would rather have himself chained to it, unable to escape.
"I know, you're awake." The whisper slipped into his hearing, a familiar warm breeze behind his ear.
Zanka froze.
Days turned into months, and he hadn't gotten used to it.
Still catching him off guard, still paralyzing.
The strong arm, that he had grown to be intimate with, sneaked around his middle, pulling him closer—flushing their bodies like they were pieces of puzzle meant to fit each

Zanka could feel it all.
He had been feeling them lately; people glancing his way too often, people talking behind his back, people going quiet whenever he entered the scene.
No matter how much squinted suspiciously at those crowds, nobody seemed to give him a
clue about what's happening.
He tried to ask Riyo, whether she knew something, but when Riyo asked what Zanka meant by that, Zanka couldn't really give him context. How did he explain that it felt like people had been paying attention to him lately? Too much, even he might say.
He ended up aborting the conversation, knowing that Riyo probably couldn't provide the satisfying answer.
He tried another route. His next pick was the Supporters.
Maybe they knew something that Zanka didn't. He knew how Follo was particularly quick to catch the wind of any news,

Staring at the pricked thumb, Zanka wished he had brought a handkerchief. He also wished, someone had told him beforehand, if they were about to help Rudo activate his choker. Well, he should have anticipated this too, being Rudo's trainer and all.
Sooner and later, his pupil would need to get his own choker to communicate. He hadn't had the opportunity to explain it to Rudo yet, and somehow Rudo is now wearing one—a slightly horrified face as everyone put the bloody fingers on the device.
Zanka had the honor to be the
the second Rudo gave the blood to; Enjin being the first for literally taking him under his wings. Everyone was busy lining up, to get the drop of Rudo's blood on them, when Enjin nudged him by his shoulder, signalling him to get away from the crowd for a while.
Zanka gave him a

Zanka couldn't stop staring. Even if he wanted, he couldn't. He just froze there, hand perched on the door handle, unable to move.
'This—this can't be right,' he told himself, unaware that the self-reassurance turned into a question at the end. 'Right?'
He might
just be too tired, he might just not look where he headed and possibly injured his head by walking straight to the wall or the door.
Because whatever it was, this couldn't possibly happen.
"Dammit, Zanka, you scared me!" The exclamation pierced through his ears, shaking him off
his reverie. Zanka returned to reality, to the present that didn't feel like a present because of how absurd the whole thing he had just seen.
'This—this can't be right,' he told himself, unaware that the self-reassurance turned into a question at the end again. 'Right?'
