We spent $,5000 on links for this client over the course of about 4 months.

The results:

Massive boost in organic month over month headed into Q1 of 26 here.

Heres how we did it: Image
1 - We built branded anchors first for a little while.

They had done SEO before but most of the links were spammy and very aggressive on keywords.

So we built a foundation of branded mentions first to get the profile warmed back up.
2 - We built some keyword adjacent links with embedded GBPs on pages.

Higher DR, expensive links, and more aggressive keyword targeting.

These are your traditional foundational SEO links, nothing special.

"top (service) around the (location) area" type links
3 - Build tiered links to major citations and best links

Build lower quality, traffic links to the big links we had obtained.

Tier'd link building 101. Juice up big links with smaller ones pointing to those profiles.
4 - We worked closely with our client to identify the relationships they had with local communities and businesses.

Got three links there as a cherry on top for local SEO boosts.
5 - The result.

Averaging a few hundred clicks a month now for these guys in a very competitive market.

Their spend with us: 10k

Website leads: 12+

Jobs: 4

Profit from all the jobs, about 20k. Roi of a 2x so far and its only compounding at month 4.

We audited 20 PI attorney GBPs this year.

Why?

Its the NFL of SEO. We study their exact moves to copy them.

Heres what we learned: Image
New EMD GBPs seem to be worthless until a certain review number and velocity is achieved.

Sometimes this is 50 reviews, sometimes its 100.

In uncompetitive environments, usually a solid 20 reviews will get you pretty far and the GBP should be able to capture 80% of the ranking area and compete with larger profiles.
Keyword stuffed reviews move the needle the most.

But NOT keyword stuffed replies. Its too much of a cheese.

Look at all the suggested keywords in GBP profiles.

Top ones always have stronger keyword clusters from those reviews. Always.

The trick is how to get these 👀

If you have your GBP already maxed its time for your second one.

And on this second GBP you can build much more aggressively.

Heres how we do this: Image
First off - Location.

Based on your existing knowledge, get one placed as close to the highest network/best margin customers you have seen.

Pick a strip mall, office park, contractor garage etc.

In larger cities, you're goal is sub 2.5 miles from your target audience.

Smaller cities this can be 5 miles away.
Next - survey your options. You'll need:

- To be able to show the address/room number
- Interior access for photos
- Ideally a front office/lobby showing business room number

Find the best one that checks most of these boxed.

Get a one month lease as needed. Nothing more.

Sometimes you can bribe the landlord/agent for an afternoon.

This pest control company had given up on marketing companies.

Took me three sales calls to close them for our base retainer.

7 months later and traffic exploded just as we enter slow season to bridge the gap till spring.

Heres how I built their site, and the links (a 🧵 ): Image
First - get your site structure down.

Pass the link juice up to your home page, and the few money pages.

Do NOT link down to more obscure pages, thats a great way to torch your link juice.

Links need to link laterally, or up. No exceptions. Image
Heres a silver bullet - local citations.

These guys had decent PR from local coverage and donations.

But NO links to their site. Only brand mentions which don't get you far at all.

We contacted the companies, got a few links, and boom. Traffic popped.

Most people chase backlinks and reviews before fixing the one thing that actually matters first.

Client spent $8k on link building while their on-page SEO was completely broken.

Here's why foundation comes before fancy tactics every single time 👇
The expensive mistake killing SEO campaigns before they start?

Jump straight into backlinks, citations, and review generation strategies.

Ignore the foundational on-page SEO that makes everything else work.

Like building a house on sand then wondering why fancy roof doesn't help.

Client had 40 quality backlinks but zero rankings because basic on-page structure was disaster.

You can't build rankings on broken foundations no matter how much you spend.
What actually matters in on-page SEO for 2025...

Title tags: The blue headline Google shows in search results, needs target keyword naturally.

Meta descriptions: What sells the click after you rank, focus on conversion not keywords.

H1-H3 tags: Your content hierarchy showing topical structure (one H1 per page, period).

Alt text: Helps crawlers understand images and accessibility (may be phased out with AI vision).

Keyword mapping: Use related semantic keywords naturally, not same phrase repeated 50 times awkwardly.

Everyone wants the secret SEO formula. Here it is:

Rank higher - get more organic clicks - lower CAC - profit.

That's literally the entire game 👇
No magic tricks or secret hacks exist that agencies won't tell you.

Entire game is convincing Google your site deserves #1 position.

You show Google what it wants through three pillars:
On-page (content quality + site structure)
Off-page (backlinks + reputation signals)
Technical (site speed + mobile accessibility)

Do that heavy lifting correctly once, reach the top, then mostly maintenance mode.
Why SEO has better ROI than any other channel?

Paid ads: Stop paying, traffic dies immediately, zero residual value.

SEO: Stop optimizing, rankings persist for months/years, leads keep flowing.

Client we ranked #1 in 2022 canceled retainer in 2023.

Still getting 40+ calls monthly in 2025 from those rankings. That's what I call infinite ROI from finite investment.

Most SEO campaigns fail before they even start. Not because of bad backlinks or weak content.

Because they never aimed before shooting at the right keywords.

Here's why keyword research matters more than execution speed 👇
Real humans searching actually type "painter Dallas" with 10x more monthly volume.

One word difference. Completely different search intent and traffic potential.

Spent 6 months optimizing for wrong keyword, ranked #1, got 12 calls total.

Competitor optimized for right keyword, ranked #3, got 200+ calls. Good SEO is about direction first, speed second.
Business owners think in company terms: "We're a painting company offering services."

Real customers think in problem terms: "I need a painter to fix my walls."

Google rewards pages matching how humans actually search, not how businesses want to be found.

"Painter near me" gets 50k searches. "Painting company near me" gets 800 searches.

Target wrong one and waste months of perfect execution on worthless traffic.
