The Left cannot simultaneously demand a multi-trillion-dollar debt-fueled centralized mega-government, and insist that left-wing activists can ignore federal laws they don't like, and violently interfere with law enforcement.

If we all want to have a big bipartisan national conversation about dramatically reducing the size and funding of the federal government and devolving more of its power to the states, I'll be happy to brew the coffee.

But I have to warn the Left: border security will absolutely remain one of the core responsibilities of even the smallest imaginable federal government, and Democrats WILL be required to obey those laws. No rational government can work any other way.

Now, if the Left wants to zero out almost all federal funding, so that state taxpayers finance everything in their states, then we can talk about letting idiots vote for crooks who will help foreign gangs rob them blind. A regrettable decision, but no longer a federal issue.

But we absolutely will not have a government that exercises gigantic powers over law-abiding, hard-working, taxpaying Americans, seizing much of their income in taxes, while allowing foreign criminals, corrupt Democrat politicians, and deranged activists to subvert its authority.

We also absolutely reject the notion that the authority of the titanic federal government is only legitimate when Democrats are in charge. This is a core principle of fascism - the Party is the source of all power - and the American people should reject it utterly.

If you really want a taste of true, hardcore fascism, that's how you get it: a permanent Party apparatus that claims the first loyalty of its members, above and beyond the nation and its people, with power that transcends law and elections.

If we're going to have a massive centralized government, it must be bound by the Constitution and elections. We cannot allow one Party or its special interests to simply ignore government authority, the law, and even the needs of public safety on a whim. /end
