Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says Bharat is preparing DPRs for 7 new high-speed corridors, focusing on indigenous capability after learning from the Mumbai-Amdavad bullet train project.

Planned growth connectors include:

▪️ Mumbai-Pune
▪️ Pune-Hyderabad
▪️ Hyderabad-Chennai
▪️ Hyderabad-Bengaluru
▪️ Chennai-Bengaluru
▪️ Delhi-Varanasi
▪️ Varanasi-Patna-Siliguri

Total network: ~4000 km with estimated investment ~₹16 lakh crore.

Why these routes?

Vaishnaw calls Hyderabad-Chennai-Bengaluru a “high-speed diamond” linking major economic hubs. Similar to Japan’s Tokyo-Osaka effect, expected to trigger development corridors along the route.

Major shift: 🇮🇳 Indigenous technology.

Track systems, viaduct construction, signalling, electrical infrastructure, propulsion components and even future bullet train manufacturing to be developed in Bharat.

Vaishnaw says no decision yet. Bharat collaborated with Japan earlier but now understands high-speed complexity. Indian Railways has fully understood high-speed rail systems and is ready to implement them independently.
