What is allegiance? It is devotion or loyalty to a person, group, or cause.
Where is your allegiance today? More importantly, where should it be as a Christian?
🔍 God is Actively Searching
The Word of God tells us that He looks all over the earth, searching for those whose allegiance is to Him!
"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him." — 2 Chronicles 16:9
⚓ The Ultimate Loyalty
We can love our country, and we are commanded to love others—even our enemies—but our first and ultimate loyalty belongs to God alone. Jesus was clear: we cannot serve two masters.
"No man can serve two masters... Ye cannot serve God and mammon." — Matthew 6:24
⚖️ The Heart Check: Words vs. Actions
Have we made gods of other things? A person, a cause, or even our nation? Before we say "No," we must see if our words match our actions.
* The Command: "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." (Exodus 20:3-6)
* The Litmus Test: We show we love Him by keeping His commandments. (1 John 2:3-4)
“And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him.” (1 John 2:3-4)
⚔️ Allegiance in the Face of Conflict
Our allegiance to God even supersedes family and human authority. When the world asks us to do what is contrary to His Word, we must stand firm.
* The Cost: In Acts 5:29, the apostles showed us that allegiance often costs something. They weren't just being stubborn; they were being faithful even when it was dangerous, saying: "We ought to obey God rather than men."
* The Priority: Jesus' call in Luke 14:26 reminds us that no earthly tie can come before or interfere with our devotion to Him.
🙏 A Personal Pledge
Where is your allegiance? In whom are you placing your hope? Beloved, make sure your allegiance is to the LORD!
Father, I pledge allegiance to You and to Your holy Word! I will hide it in my heart and make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
"O how love I Thy law! it is my meditation all the day... Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." — Psalm 119:97-105

How do we treat the weak among us? Do we belittle them because they are weak? Or rather do we encourage them in their weakness?
Encouragement doesn’t mean we don’t exhort them and instruct them in God’s Word, but it means we are patient with them as God works in their lives!
1 Thessalonians 5:14-24
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly (insubordinate), comfort the feebleminded (faint-hearted), support the weak, be patient toward all men.
We are told in God’s Word not to worry about the future, but to trust in the provision, and protection of our Father in heaven for each day!
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread.
Our lives are to be lived one day at a time!
Luke 9:23
And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
“O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought.”
Matthew 6:25-34
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Do you value the Word of God? Do you believe it is true; every Word of it? If every Word of God is pure and true, and you believe and value it, do you read His written Word? We are told to hide His Word in our hearts!
Psalm 119:10-12
With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes.
You see beloved, if we love God, and believe Him, we will value His Word above all other words written or spoken. We will seek His Word, and seek to understand and walk in His Word with our whole heart!
Are you willing to pray, LORD, do in my life whatever brings You glory?
Praying that prayer, is like praying the prayer we often talk about that I have prayed for my children, and my loved ones, and yes, each of you reading this message today!
That prayer is this — LORD, do whatever it takes in our lives to make our hearts completely Yours; don’t leave us alone until our hearts are fully surrendered to You!
Beloved, you see, the LORD uses the hard things in our lives not only to perfect us, and draw us closer to Him, but for His glory!
Waiting is so hard, but waiting with hope makes it so much better!
I wrote the message below a couple of years ago but I want to share it again today, as I see in my own life and family those who feel like their hopes and dreams will never be realized!
Hope deferred, the Word says, makes the heart sick, but when your hope is finally realized, it is a tree of life!
What are you hoping and waiting for? Wait for it beloved — Keep hoping, because you serve a mighty God who has promised to give you the desires of your heart, when you put Him first, and delight in Him!
When you think of the wicked, what comes to your mind? We associate wickedness with the ungodly of this world. Wicked they are, but the Word of the LORD; the prophets of God spoke in great part to the wicked among God’s own people!
Look at the Word often quoted today! Who is God speaking to here? His people!
2 Chronicles 7:14
If MY people, which are called by MY Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek MY face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
