Pay attention – Trump has called for:

– Rigged voting maps
– A mass voter suppression law
– Republicans to “take over” elections

Now he’s bombing Iran while allies circulate a draft "emergency" executive order to expand his power over voting.

Here’s what you need to know. ⬇️
Marc Elias is connecting the dots. He led the legal fight that stopped Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election in court.

Now he’s warning that this draft “emergency” order could be used to assert illegal power over the 2026 elections
The president has no constitutional authority to control state-run elections.

Declaring a “national emergency” does not create powers the Constitution and Congress never gave him.

Such an executive order would be challenged in court immediately.
On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that election deniers coordinated with the White House on a draft executive order claiming China interfered in 2020.

They want to use that as a pretext for a national emergency to give Trump power over elections.

Today, ProPublica reports that Trump officials – including a White House lawyer and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security election integrity chief – met with election deniers pushing for a national emergency to take over the 2026 midterm election. propublica.org/article/electi…
One group shows up across these reports: The Election Integrity Network.

It was founded by Cleta Mitchell – Trump’s 2020 attorney who was key in efforts to overturn his loss.

She joined Trump’s call to “find” votes in Georgia and was later subpoenaed by the January 6 Committee. Image

The Election Integrity Network is a well-funded operation:

– spreads disinformation
– trains activists
– pushes restrictive voting rules

From the SAVE Act to the "national emergency," they're tied to nearly every election issue Trump advances.

More. ⬇️
Cleta Mitchell – founder of the Election Integrity Network and one of Trump’s 2020 attorneys – has been at the White House in recent weeks.

One of the key players behind efforts to overturn 2020 is back in the room as new attempts to interfere with elections takes shape. Image
Image
The Election Integrity Network is really the Election Insurrection Network – they formed out of the 2020 coup attempt.

Congress must investigate them and individuals working with Trump officials on a “national emergency” scheme to seize control of the 2026 midterm election. Image
This “national emergency” scheme would be illegal and unconstitutional.

It will be challenged in court immediately, just like Trump’s 2025 elections executive order.

The most important thing is making sure people understand what this is – and that it cannot be allowed to stand.
In October, a New York Times report revealed Trump's team floated a "national emergency" to control elections.

A DHS official said it could allow Trump to change election rules "without Congress."

That official came from the Election Integrity Network.

NEW: As Trump calls to “take over” elections and Congress pushes the SAVE Act, which could disenfranchise millions, Georgia lawmakers and voting rights leaders stood together today to fight back.

They introduced the Georgia Voting Rights Act.

Here’s what they had to say. ⬇️
@GASenDems Nikki Merritt: "We're here because voting is the foundation of everything else we argue about in this building. If people cannot freely and fairly vote, then nothing we pass, fund or regulate carries the legitimacy it claims it might. Today, we're introducing the Henry McNeal Turner Georgia Voting Rights Act. The fight over who counts, whose vote matters and who gets to participate has never fully been stopped."
@GASenDems Nikki Merritt: "People should not need insider knowledge, or perfect transportation, or flexible working hours or law degrees just to participate in our democracy and vote. Voting should be easy. It should be consistent. It should be fair. This bill is a practical response. It establishes a statewide protections against voter suppression and vote dilution. So voting rights and political power don't have to depend on your zip code."

🚨NEW: ProPublica just dropped a bombshell on Trump’s Fulton County FBI raid.

The “evidence” may trace back to a discredited election denier – whose claims Georgia officials already debunked.

This comes as Trump calls to “take over” elections.

Why this matters for 2026. ⬇️ Image
.@ProPublica identifies Kevin Moncla (an election denier) as the potential key source behind the FBI raid on Fulton’s election warehouse.

Moncla says he’s been interviewed twice by government investigators and gave them data on Fulton’s 2020 election. Image
Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State and State Election Board reviewed Moncla’s Fulton complaints and dismissed them – or found only minor human errors that didn’t affect the outcome.

Those same rejected claims are now being repackaged as federal “evidence.” Image

NEW: Standing before Georgia lawmakers last month, a known election conspiracy theorist dropped a bombshell:

“On September 10th, I received a call from an investigator with the Department of Justice.”

What he said next should alarm everyone. ⬇️
Mark Davis told lawmakers the DOJ was investigating his claim that hundreds of thousands of Georgians voted illegally.

Davis is a serial voter challenger.

Court filings show Georgia’s GOP Secretary of State investigated his past claims and found them 0% accurate. Image

Ed Martin, a Trump DOJ appointee and January 6 defender, is demanding immediate access to 148,000 Georgia 2020 ballots.

Martin appears to be using federal power to help far-right operatives legitimize debunked claims and set the stage for rewriting election rules ahead of 2026. Image

Setting the record straight:
Trump *cannot* cancel the 2026 midterms – but he *can* try to rig them.

Here’s how Trump and Republicans are trying to do it right now. ⬇️
In July, I wrote about Trump + White House officials pressuring GOP states to gerrymander congressional maps.

It started in Texas – now it’s spread. Some states passed maps (NC, MO), others are under pressure (NH, NE, IN).

They want to weaken our votes.
The Supreme Court could soon gut the Voting Rights Act in a case called Louisiana v. Callais.

If they do, Republicans supercharge their gerrymandering scheme to gain 19 more seats + lock in one-party rule for a generation.

I wrote about this for @slate.

NEW: Trump’s team is plotting to declare a fake national emergency to hijack elections.

One top operative says they can “take steps without Congress” and “mandate" election rules for states.

@NYTimes' investigation exposes the operatives and the takeover already underway. ⬇️ Image
Image
Heather Honey (Trump DHS appointee) floated using national emergency powers to mandate election rules for states as early as March.

Honey is part of the Election Integrity Network, a group that spreads disinformation, pressures election officials & pushes to rig election rules. Image
Image
Honey is well-known for spreading the false claim that Pennsylvania had “more votes than voters” – the same BS that Trump repeated on January 6th.

NYT: "The claim has been repeatedly disputed by election officials who said she was misinterpreting and misusing a state database"

NEW: Tomorrow the Supreme Court will rehear a case that could let the GOP grab 19 new, safe U.S. House seats by gutting Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

I wrote for @Slate about how the far-right justices seem ready to help Republicans lock in one party rule for decades. ⬇️ Slate headline: The Supreme Court Might Net Republicans 19 Congressional Seats in One Fell Swoop
Slate article text: By taking the unusual step of reopening arguments, legal experts believe, the court’s far-right majority may have telegraphed its intent to dismantle Section 2. If it falls, the impact will reverberate far beyond Louisiana, reshaping political power across the entire country. Combined with Donald Trump and Republicans’ ongoing gerrymandering power grab, gutting Section 2 could help secure an additional 27 safe GOP U.S. House seats—at least 19 directly tied to the loss of Section 2. According to a new analysis from Fair Fight Action and Black Voters Matter Fund, it’s eno...
After a court found Louisiana’s congressional map violated the VRA by weakening Black voters’ power, the GOP legislature was ordered to draw a 2nd majority-Black district.

When they fixed the map, non-Black voters sued, saying fixing the discrimination was itself discrimination. Slate article text: Louisiana v. Callais began with a simple act of compliance. After a federal court found that the state’s congressional map violated the VRA by weakening Black voters’ power, Louisiana’s Republican Legislature was ordered to draw a second majority-Black district. The reason was clear: Although Black residents make up roughly a third of Louisiana’s population, they had been given a fair chance to elect a representative of their choice in just one of six congressional districts. When lawmakers finally followed the court’s order to fix their discriminatory map, they were p...
The argument's logic twists the 14th + 15th Amendments, created to protect voting rights, in an attempt to destroy them. It should've been laughed out of court.

But a lower court embraced it and an appeal was accepted by the Supreme Court. Louisiana Illuminator headline: Supreme Court takes up challenge to Louisiana congressional map
