Canada has successfully united Democrats and Republicans against its absurd trade deal with China. Bravo.
Completely predictable to anyone not blinded by their own absurd ideology.
And as I said from day 1, how does anyone think this will play out in trade talks? Why would any democrat back Canada from any auto producing state? They're not going to have an integrated supply chain with China. So Canada traded auto manufacturing jobs and auto trade with the US, for what? Helping China sell cars at the expense of Canadian jobs and its own security? Complete stupidity. One can only hope this somehow doesn't turn out as bad as it is currently looking.
What's at risk? At present, after tariffs, as many as 500,000 jobs, almost $17 billion in GDP and 90 per cent of production that goes south, but instead you can have some cheap Chinese cars. Canada loses this and it is not going to be recognizable.

What the general Canadian public is not aware of,but workers in some industries are,is that China continually uses Canada, and has been using it for some time.China works its goods into Canadian products and its economy, why?Because Canada, has or had, tariff free access to the US
It allowed China to get its manufactured products into the US and use Canada as a backdoor to do it. The problem is the Canadian public needs to be more aware of this, which it isn't. Canada's manufacturing, something parties like the NDP used to support, has declined massively
It is high time Canada stopped allowing itself to be used by China, and be used as a dump for cheap Chinese goods and resources, and support its own domestic manufacturing base, and renew a tariff free arrangement with the US and Mexico.
Canadian Liberal Party candidate calls for another candidate to be taken to the PRC consulate to be arrested for Beijing tadc.ca/china-election…
“To everyone here, you can claim the one-million-dollar bounty if you bring him to Toronto’s Chinese Consulate,” Chiang reportedly told Ming Pao, a Chinese-language media, during an ethnic media conference in January.
This comment was made in January. So is the Liberal Party all good with this?
Was reading another story on foreign interference (who needs sleep?) And thought I'd add this just to reinforce it, not all states have the same goals when it comes to interference. Sometimes I noticed govt (and MPs) bring up Russia.
The aims of these countries differ when it comes to this subject. Russia has often engaged in attempts to sow confusion, discord and sow doubt in elections. PRC aims have been noticeably different.
The goal is more focused on having someone represent their interests. As an example, in that sense, they would not want an election to be doubted if their person won. It's worth noting that these aims are not mutually exclusive.
The Rosenberg Report is out and I have some comments. I'll preface this by saying I've had a quick read through and might have some more substantive things to say later, time permitting (and time is in short supply). canada.ca/en/democratic-…
Overall it's good but unlikely to satisfy concerns about FI in the 2021 election because the report itself acknowledges some important limitations. First, SITE feeds the Panel of civil servants that would be charged with making an announcement of whether interference occurred.
That on its face isn't a problem. Rather it's what information does SITE have or not have that is the problem. So if SITE isn't given information they may need, they may have very little for the Panel.
