An Israeli outlet has published a piece detailing Israel’s regime change ops in Iran. We should b skeptical. That this was published at all is its own influence op. It’s aim seems to b 2 reframe Israel’s failed regime change op as successful & ongoing /n israelhayom.com/2026/05/28/sec…
The piece details how prior to launching the illegal Feb 28 war, Israel sought to push regime change inside Iran by exploiting real grievances & taking advantage of the Dec protest movement which caught it off guard
It also details the basic strategy Mossad follows: to try and show Iranians that the govt is weak, doesn’t know and can’t control everything, and that it is, essentially, disposable
Part of the purpose of the piece - and the decision to publish it in English - is to reinforce that view: that Mossad is basically in control not the Iranian govt, so take to the streets folks and overthrow the regime because the Iranian govt is on the brink of collapse
The other purpose is to present Israel’s regime change op as a sophisticated on-going process rather than what many, inc in the U.S., see it as: a total and utter failure. It also pushes for continued war so that regime change can succeed
For these reasons, I’d be highly skeptical abt the overall claims in this piece. There’s no doubt Israel is pursuing regime change & trying 2 influence Iranian public op. That doesn’t mean, however, that Iranians are sitting ducks or that these efforts can’t be resisted

Israel is refusing 2 leave south Lebanon by this Sunday as req under its “ceasefire” agreement w/Lebanon. This is yet another blatant Israeli breach of the agreement. The @nytimes makes it look like Israel is the innocent party. Here’s why that’s wrong /1 nytimes.com/2025/01/24/wor…
The biggest falsehood in this story is this 👇🏽. There havent been “occasional violations.” There have been SYSTEMATIC violations committed primarily by Israel since the deal started on Nov 27
Since the deal’s initiation, Lebanon has reported over 564 Israeli violations which have resulted in nearly 40 deaths and nearly 50 injuries
Trump has issued an Executive Order that revives his Muslim Ban but is also much much worse. Here’s a thread on key aspects of the new ban /1 whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…
The admin has clearly learned from its earlier efforts 2 ban natls from Muslim maj countries by issuing a “facially neutral” order that appears 2 create a non-arbitrary process 4 its various action items. This is procedural process washing of what it still a discriminatory ban /2
The new ban has many troubling provisions the old versions of the ban didn’t have, like this provision
1/ This is an extraordinary if obvious admission. It is obvious the reason Mangione is being charged with terrorism isnt because his alleged actions fit any plausible US legal definition of “terrorism.” It’s because of the outpouring of support for him across US society.
2/ It is because of how his purported anger/actions resonates with countless folks whose bodies are treated in cost-benefit terms rather than as precious living beings whose health and well-being are prioritized
3/ As with most if not all terrorism charges, the charge against Mangione is not only intended to distract from the actual political & economic grievances that likely drove his purported actions. It is also meant to render him evil, irrational, & beyond the pale.
1/ Having listened 2 this entire interview, I can say Rashid Khalid's comments abt Iran & the "Axis of Resistance" r inconsistent, imprecise & simplistic. Does Iran seek 2 promote its self-interest? Yes. Does that mean the Axis is pure real politik? No.
2/First, u could argue that the format here - a podcast interview - makes it unfair to hold Khalidi to a standard of precision or accuracy for an off-the-cuff cmt. His statements r pretty forceful tho & stated with a great confidence, so I think it's fair to hold him to them
3/ Second, Khalidi says that the Axis was not one of "resistance" but one of "deterrence" for Iran. At the same time, he claims that the non-state group members of the Axis are not Iranian puppets, that they are independent, but receive Iranian "support".
The House is set 2 vote on a bill that would allow the Trump admin 2 designate US non-profits, like universities, as "terrorist support orgs" if they, say, support pro-Palestine students protesting genocide. This bill is terrifying & must be stopped /n. /1theintercept.com/2024/11/10/tru…
The current bill incorporates another billl, HR 6408, which passed the House earlier this year but stalled in the Senate. That bill was exclusively aimed at stripping 501(c)(3) of their non-profit status for being "terrorist supporting orgs" /n
HR 6408 stalled in the Senate - because it is so terrifyingly broad w/massive implications for speech. Now, the House is reviving it in a new bill that pairs it with proposed legislation to give tax breaks to Americans imprisoned or taken hostage abroad. /n
Netanyahu’s speech is not just replete with lie after lie after lie, Netanyahu is displaying visual evidence of how Israel seeks to re-make the entire Middle East. There are 2 parts: 1. Aggressive war & 2. Economic hegemony /n
Aggressive/genocidal war: Netanyahu’s map is a map clearly showing Israel’s plan to destroy multiple nations - from Palestine to Lebanon to Syria to Iran. This is a plan for Israeli supremacy across the region
Economic hegemony: Netanyahu’s second map shows Israel’s plan to build commercial networks over Saudi Arabia to connect itself to South and East Asia, skirting the old Silk Road
