One basis for responding is the right to self-defense under Art 51 (or a Sec Council res which isn’t going to happen). Israel has no Art 51 right since the Golan Heights is sovereign Syrian territory, NOT Israeli territory, as establish by intl law

Just published this piece on-going legislative efforts in Congress to “securitize” US universities by treating pro-Palestine students & faculty as threats to US national security that must be disciplined & controlled. I’m very skeptical of the US-Israel ceasefire proposal. Its riddled w/way 4 Israel 2 continue its military activities in Gaza. The most important phase - phase 2 - may never be reached. Phase 1 doesnt require a fully Israeli withdrawal from Gaza either /n aljazeera.com/amp/news/2024/… Phase 1 has serious problems. It only requires Israel to withdraw from “populated areas” of Gaza. With most of Gaza depopulated by Israel, what does “populated” even mean? At the very least, this is not a total withdrawal, which will only happen in phase 2

Some thoughts on the Biden executive order sanctioning 4 Israeli settlers. First, the EO is written broadly.
