Russian energy giants like Gazprom and Rosneft are the main funders of drones, missiles, bombs, and every other weapon of war smashing into Ukrainian homes. These companies even fund their own mercenary outfits. Why protect the profit margins of companies that finance invasion?
The economic comfort of those who largely supported the invasion at it outset, and continue to carry it out, is not a concern for the United States. They continue to recruit enough volunteers for this bloodletting through military contacts, not largescale forced mobilization.
There is a moral tradeoff asked of our representatives. What matters more to you? Cutting off funding for bombing, mass drone attacks, torture of prisoners, ethnic cleansing of occupied territory, targeting of aid workers and civilians, or the economic comfort of the occupier?
