THE 7 POLITICAL BLOCKS IN RIVERS STATE

Rivers State was created on Saturday 27th May 1967 by Gen. Yakubu Gowon. After the creation of Bayelsa in 1996,the state divided into 7 political blocks namely; Ikwerre/Etche,Orashi, Kalabari, Igbani, Andoni,Okrika and Ogoni.

The only political block who are supposed to be complaining or agitate is the OGONI'S, because they are the only block that are yet to produce a Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker or Chief Judge in Rivers State.

Statistics don't lie, looking at stats, it is very clear that the Ijaws put together are the highest beneficiaries and currently they are crying louder than everyone.

Other key positions the Ijaws are occupying currently in Rivers State;

•The Governor of Rivers State - Siminalayi Joseph Fubara from Opobo

•The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University - Professor Isaac Zeb Obipi from Okrika.

•Director of Rivers State Microfinance Agency(RIMA) - Pastor Jonathan Tobin

•The Acting Director General of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA) is Dr. Tonte Joseph Davies.

•Managing Director of the Rivers State Signage and Advertisement Agency (RISAA) is Hon. Aye Pepple.

•Head of Service of Rivers State is Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown

•Secretary to the State Government (SSG) is Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika from Okrika.

•Chairman, Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) is Alabo (Dr.) David T. Briggs is from Kalabari.

•Managing Director, Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) is Dr. Ibimina Wokoma is from Kalabari.
