The first time I posted this I wrote a stake to 'the US Government' which I think is the better phrasing, then I deleted that post because I wanted to add a screenshot of the headline. And then when I rewrote it, I mirrored the headline without even realizing it, and reposted it.

The US Government has requested a slow staggered rollout of GPT-5.6, and OpenAI has agreed. During this phase the government will approve each user individually. This will probably be the norm for all frontier models from all labs from now on.
That should say each customer, not each user. I mean, you could interpret it either way, but customer probably means corporation in this case. Unless it really is that crazy. I'm adding this so I don't get community noted.
Feeling pretty good about this! I bet it's been ready for quite a while.

Dario Amodei and Demis Hassabis called for a US-led coalition to determine the global standards and rules for AI in a closed-door meeting this morning at the G7.

Dario Amodei also said in his address that the coalition should structure access to frontier models and hardware - including both chips and other critical components - in a way that excludes China.Image
