We always think the evil eye (’ayn) is just someone being jealous of your new car or job.
It isn’t.
It’s far more serious than most people realize.
The Prophet ﷺ revealed a reality about the evil eye that every Muslim should know.
He ﷺ said:
“The evil eye is true, and if anything could precede the divine decree, it would be the evil eye.”
(Sahih Muslim 2188)
This doesn’t mean the evil eye overrides Allah’s decree. Nothing can. Rather, it emphasizes how serious and powerful its effects can be, all within Allah’s perfect decree.
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“The evil eye puts a man into the grave and a camel into the cooking pot.”
(Authenticated by al-Albani in al-Silsilah al-Sahihah, 1249)
The believer doesn’t live in fear.
The believer lives with tawakkul while taking the means that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ taught.
One of those means is the du’a the Prophet ﷺ used to seek protection for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn رضي الله عنهما:
The Prophet ﷺ : Whoever sleeps while having a "ghamar" in his hand and does not wash it, if something befalls him, let him not blame anyone but himself.
What is the meaning of "ghamar"??
In this hadith, “ghamar” refers to the greasy smell or residue left on the hands after eating, especially from meat or fatty foods.
The Prophet ﷺ was teaching cleanliness and hygiene, meaning a person should wash their hands properly before sleeping. Otherwise, leftover food smell or grease could attract insects or cause harm.
Did you know why Prophet ﷺ warned children not to go out after Maghrib?
The Prophet ﷺ said, "When nightfalls, then keep your children close to you, for the devil spread out then. An hour later you can let them free; and close the gates of your house (at night), and mention Allah's Name thereupon,
and cover your utensils, and mention Allah's Name thereupon, (and if you don't have something to cover your utensil) you may put across it something (e.g. a piece of wood etc. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3280)
Why? The Reason
Shayateen Are Most Active at Maghrib
A sneeze's velocity is near 100 miles per hour, it lasts one second. Sneezing loudly can break one of your ribs.
Holding your nose and closing your mouth while sneezing may cause Pneumomediastinum (air trapped between your lungs), a cerebral aneurysm (ballooning blood vessel in the brain) and thus leading to death.
You’re not here by accident!! Allah wants you to recite these 5 powerful du’as to bring peace, forgiveness, blessed rizq, ease, guidance, and mercy into your life.
