(THREAD) BREAKING: Allegations Trump spoke to Putin via speakerphone at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, discussing both his plan to run for president and his desire to see Trump Tower Moscow built with Putin's blessing—implying a quid pro quo—are 90% confirmed. Please read/share.
WARNING/ This thread will be long, and there are a number of news items in it not yet reported by major media—though they will be—which will also make this thread confusing. "Confusing" is not "far-fetched." The facts in this thread have been drawn from public, reliable sources.

I think the way Big Dem and especially major media handled the situation was wrong. Things were said about Biden and the race that were untrue. That bothered me as a journalist and small-d democrat. But *yes*—I got wrong what the response to Harris would be, and am glad for that.
I'm thrilled to be wrong when the result is good for the country. I'm fine with being wrong when I can stand by my basis for being so. In July, America saw the worst journalism about a U.S. president we've seen in my lifetime. I do not regret speaking up and being angry about it.
OTOH, I in no way foresaw the strength of the response to Harris. I gladly admit that. I only object to those who imply it is because I have a problem with Harris. I wanted her as the VP for Biden from the jump, and was stunned when her own presidential aspirations stalled early.
(1/2) This July video is far more revealing than people realize. To break it down:
1️⃣ He withholds his tip for the staff until they praise him.
2️⃣ He calls the President of the United States "that old broken down pile of crap" in front of his teenage son.
(2/2)
3️⃣ He claims credit for forcing Biden from the race—an eventuality he celebrates—but now falsely alleges it was an illegal Democratic Party conspiracy.
4️⃣ He knew well in advance he would be facing Harris—but now shrieks that he was unfairly blindsided.
He is so pathetic.
(NOTE) I like this video because it gives people a window into how vile this man is. It is not just that he has no respect for anyone or anything or even a modicum of basic decency or grace in public, he is exactly that way—and far worse—in private. (And he is *not* a Christian.)
Up to 2,000 entered the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021—and *tens* of thousands surrounded it, illegally trespassing on its grounds.
Why is Maggie Haberman obsessed with minimizing what happened that day by saying only “hundreds” stormed the Capitol?
It is *demonstrably* false.
Here’s another example of Haberman subtly inserting a Trump talking point into her reportage. I’m unhappy with how things were done this summer, but were I *reporting for the NYT* I *couldn’t and wouldn’t say* “the Party replaced Biden” when in fact he agreed to end his campaign.
These differences matter.
Trump wants to minimize January 6. Haberman helps.
Trump wants to falsely say—and did repeatedly, today—that Biden was *forcibly* replaced by the Democratic Party via *threats and worse* and ended his campaign *under duress* and Haberman (again) helps.
God help me, I’m actually going to watch this Trump press conference in full now
I’m going in, folks—if I don’t return, remember me semi-fondly I beg you
Just a quick note to say that I’m 25 seconds in and Trump has already assured America that "we are very close" to both World War III *and* a "1929-style" Great Depression, so this is going to be a really fun and chill and normal {checks video runtime} HOUR-PLUS
(1/4) As major media should be shouting from the rooftops today, Governor Walz filed to run for office and notified the Guard he’d be leaving it after 24 years of honorable service in February 2005. The earliest he could’ve learned his old unit was being deployed was July 2005...
(2/4) ...which is when the order arrived. The unit didn’t actually deploy until 2006. Walz served in 2003 and 2004 in Operation Enduring Freedom—which included Afghanistan *and* the Global War on Terror (including Europe, where Walz served with a weapons-of-war specialization).
(3/4) Walz was a sharpshooter and heavy-weapons (field artillery) specialist—so serving abroad in the Global War on Terror in that capacity absolutely meant handling deadly weapons in a time of war (a war the GOP declared under President Bush). So attacks on his service are vile.
MY TAKE: This was exactly the right pick. Walz is articulate, likable, relatable, will appeal to most Midwesterners, has executive experience, has decades of National Guard experience, and young people like him. He is perfect for VP and has no significant baggage to speak of.
If you haven't heard Walz speak, prepare to fall in love. The reason this guy sounds like everyone's favorite high school teacher and coach is because he *was* a HS teacher and coach. But he's also served in Congress and run a state perfectly. He has the capacity to change minds.
