4/ Nuland was accompanied by a huge US delegation, including SecState John Kerry, a show of force interpreted as a provocation by Russia. Two days later, Crimea, part of Russia until 1954, announced a referendum to separate from Ukraine and re-join Russia.

15/ wasn't just McCain. Joe Biden was "point" on the developing coup. Picture below shows him with leader of neo-Nazi Svoboda. After the coup, Biden's wayward son, Hunter, who'd lost his job for drug use, was given remunerative job with Ukrainian gas company.

16/ Biden spent hours on telephone with leaders of the coup. He visited Ukraine on more or last last day in office. He drolly observed that he talked more to Ukrainian president than his own wife.

17/ but, running point on the enterprise was Tymoshenko's old friend, Victoria Nuland. In December, she told a Washington think tank that US had invested over $5 billion shall-we-say "meddling" in Ukraine

18/ during Maidan, Nuland traveled to Ukraine repeatedly, meeting with key leaders of the coup - pictured here with Yatsenko (later leader of post-coup govt), Tyahnybok (leader of neo-Nazi Svoboda) and Klitschko (who Nuland decided to exclude from post-coup govt)

19/ in early February, Nuland instructed US ambassador Pyatt on her proposed post-coup government, deciding that Yats[enko] was who she wanted in charge

20/ meanwhile, the vanguard of the Maidan demonstrations was increasingly dominated by elements with neo-Nazi insignia: 14/88 was for 14 words, 88 =HH(itler). The Wolfsangel revived the symbol of the Waffen SS.

21/ the Maidan demonstrations also became increasingly violent, with demonstrators now turning to Molotov cocktails and even RPGs

22/ particularly deadly were Molotov cocktails with acetone chemicals which could not be easily doused, resulting in policemen being set on fire. Meanwhile, the Obama administration condemned any attempt by Ukraine government to use force to restore order.

23/ US (not meddling) distributed pamphlets to demonstrators with tips on equipping oneself for demonstrations - ironically, using exactly the same diagram in Ukraine as had been handed out in Tahrir Square, Egypt in Arab Spring other than translation
