There are times like today I'd wish Mama all the years on earth; other times, like today, I am uncertain if it's fair to. #Dementia140

Every slight ill-health sets Mama back, and by the time she gets well, she's deteriorated major. Aki this year I don't want stories of DVT again abeg.

Almost April. Mama has not required hospital so far this year. #Dementia140

Mama has been having a streak of stayed alert all day yesterday, amid all the our clamoring. #Win

But damn, don't time fly so fast. Just the other day Mama was diagnosed with dementia, now she is full tilt manifesting stage 7 of 👇dementiacarecentral.com/aboutdementia/…

This July's winter has not been kind. Thankfully though, hospital visits have not been required. 🙏

Mama had a good day today. Gratefully in part (for her), half the siblings bounced last minute which meant she struggled with less input than if the entire herd turned up.

I praise.

Today Jan 1, 2019, le father turns 80.

We have been noticing some small episodes of negligible forgetfulness in the past 2-3 months.

So it begins.

Today April 9, the parentals turn 53 years in marriage.

The dementia has settled in like an unwelcome third wheel no one asked for.

One of Mama's few remaining close friends just passed away from dementia-related complications.

At the point of his death, they both could not recognize the other.

And yesterday, Mama's best friend, the only person her clouded memory could still recognize, died.

We are yet to find a way to break this news to her, in a way she can understand.

(i.e. Le father won't be making it for this year's mango season.)
