Yikes. Ted Cruz’s CNN appearance is FULL of misleading claims and outright lies about abortion, IVF, and Texas law. So let’s go through and debunk them all, shall we? 🧵

“Senator Cruz states his bill protects IVF”– that is false. 

In fact, the way the bill is written– it would still allow for states to make laws restricting IVF. Cruz’s approach to IVF is similar to his abortion stance as he wants to leave it to the states to decide, the problem with this is that states– LIKE TEXAS– have implemented extreme laws that put people’s lives at risk but also make people fearful of prosecution. It is very apparent with recent laws and proposals that Republicans are seeking to establish fetal personhood laws so that they can continue to restrict a vast number of healthcare processes and procedures.

The congressional budget office said if this bill passed it could reduce funding for title 1 schools from the DOE. It could also invalidate funding for school lunch programs.

To be a title 1 school, 40% of your students have to be eligible for the free and reduced program.

Watching the hearing on TikTok right now, and the amount of leading questions and interruption to the CEO trying to answer questions is so extremely unprofessional and irritating.

This is a hearing— let us ACTUALLY HEAR him. Rep Pallone asks if TikTok will ban targeted marketing to people under 18, interesting.

Does this mean that this will be applied to all social media companies and television networks? Huh?

If you think for a second that these MAGA holdouts won’t vote for McCarthy you’re wrong. They’re pushing him to his limits to get their demands met. This is blackmail that’s all it ever was.
