If I Were Starting a Youtube Channel in 2024, I’d Do This.

Growing a YouTube channel from scratch is no easy task. However, with the strategy outlined in this thread, you’ll not only avoid the most common fatal errors, but also learn how to create videos with the best chance of going viral (Going viral is a science, not luck).

(Bookmark this so you don’t lose the value!)Image Step 1: Choosing A Niche

While choosing your niche may seem like a straightforward step, there's actually a strategic approach you can take to ensure you pick a niche with good potential.

This ultimately comes down to 3 main factors, which can be seen below.

1. Interest. This may sound cliche, but it is important to enjoy the content you’re producing, especially at the beginning. Not only because you’ll be more likely to stick at it, but also because you’ll have a deeper understanding of your target audience, which you can leverage to your advantage.
2. TAM. You need to ensure that your niche has a large enough total addressable market. Otherwise, getting the number of views per video you want may be extremely difficult, if not impossible. More on how to check this coming up 👇
3. Low Competition. While this isn’t essential, selecting a niche or at least a sub-niche, with lower competition will make the process of going viral a lot easier. More details on how to do this below.Image

At the heart of every viral video, meme, or article is a psychological trigger that compels us to hit that share button.

But what are these triggers, and how can content creators leverage them? 🔍🧵 Emotion is a powerful driver. Content that evokes strong emotions—whether joy, surprise, anger, or sadness—is more likely to be shared. Fascism and communism are very controversial topics in the US

Based on a viral book & film about a similar experiment

Extremely fascinating topic & title that shatters your expectation as you likely think there’s no way this can happen so quickly

Great political contrast in the thumbnail through the use of red and blue associated with communism vs democracy (cold war)
associated with GOP vs Democrats (always relevant)Image Almost everyone has played Monopoly before, but it often feels like a game of chance.

The video title promises to teach you how to win every time (which we all would like to, so we could stick it to our siblings next time we play), while keeping the thumbnail very factual & simple (almost scientific looking), which builds trust.

Once the video picked up a couple hundred k views it also gave social proofImage
