A short thread on TERF.

The entire business community, sympathetic op-ed writers, and the previous SBP governor jumping into the fray reminded me of the phrase "the lady doth protest too much"

The largest borrowers under TERF were listed entities so the SBP and Seths' insistence on keeping the list of beneficiaries confidential seems weird. Wouldn't be amazing to let the public know how many factories were established and jobs were created due to this?

🧵 if you are into stuff like worker’s welfare fund (WWF). As per provincial laws, industrial units are supposed to contribute 2% or thereabouts to WWF. WWF uses those funds to build apartments that are rented to workers at nominal rates.

1/
Now, under Section 4 subsection (m) of FI Bill 2022, the government has granted itself the power to exempt industries (namely Barrick / Reko Diq) from contributing towards WWF.

So this is my hopefully short 🧵 on the insistence of @UzairYounus that I read the stuff as it’s important.

But we learnt in SBP Amendment Act case, when military, government, opposition, journalists & economists conspire, the bill sails through parliament to become an act.

Making a thread of “state capture” under Shehbaz Speed

1. No private sector talent available to take over PIA once the earlier CEO retires. Air Marshal Amer Hayat to take over

arynews.tv/pia-gets-new-c… 2. Sihala Flyover handed over to FWO for speedy completion as private sector contractor was unable to complete at that price citing cost increases
